I work in progressive politics. I live in rural AB. I occasionally surprise people with one or both of the above.

Important access info for people in Lethbridge who want to vote but are homebound

Hey can you also mention for those that are disabled they can reach out to 311 to have someone come to their house so they can vote? I had no clue till I started researching the school trustees. ❤️

The Jasper Wildfire review is damningly clear about one thing: the UCP government exploited a life-and-death moment to play political games.

And in their response to this report, rather than accepting responsibility and promising to do better, they lash out, insult others, and refuse any blame.

A salutary reminder of what happens when a government puts bashing the feds above protecting and supporting the most vulnerable members of our communities.

After years of advocacy, applications for the $200/month Canada Disability Benefit opened today.

But the only provincial govt in Canada that will keep its citizens with disabilities from actually benefiting from it is the UCP.

They are the only ones clawing it back.

It’s cruel & shameful.

Historians and political scientists spend decades trying to determine the influence of money in politics and Musk just tweets out "I bought the election"

Here it is: Musk thinks he is owed a say in Trump’s policy because of how much he spent on the campaign.

I sure do love living in the midst of a persistent exposure zone thanks to the failure of my neighbours to do the right thing and get vaccinated. But freedom, amirite?

Measles is so bad that AHS is discontinuing their site specific warnings and just declaring the entire area an “at risk of exposure” zone.

As a protest against politicians being in charge of election rules, the Longest Ballot folks are organizing to run 200 candidates in the by-election in which Poilievre will be running.

They recently ran 91 candidates in Poilievre's previous riding.

The Premier is addressing Albertans live at 3pm on Monday to discuss the future of Alberta in Confederation.

Nothing that I saw or heard today suggests a groundswell of angst among Albertans. Neither do polls.

If she speaks of a crisis on Monday, it's likely imagined or manufactured.

Today's conversations reinforced my sense that this is not our grandparents' populism or alienation.

Who among us has not shared classified information about forthcoming military strikes with journalists, spouses, and siblings. And likely on a private cel phone. If it was anybody else within the Defense Department they would be fired (and perhaps charged), but not the Secretary.

I KNEW this was a quota issue.

ICE officers are now reportedly required to meet arrest quotas each day, from a few hundred to between 1,200 and 1,500 nationwide. Jonathan Blitzer reports on the mystery of the agency’s unidentifiable arrests.
The Mystery of ICE’s Unidentifiable Arrests
In early March, the agency announced that it had arrested forty-eight people in New Mexico—a month later, their identities and whereabouts remain unknown.

The lies are coming faster and more desperately these days. Keep pressing, friends.
Tweet from @TheMaineWonk calling out a statement by Donald Trump as an “insane lie,” shown above Trump’s tweet claiming record U.S. tariff revenue, falling prices on goods including gas and groceries, and reduced inflation, ending with “Promises Made, Promises Kept!”

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.
