Rubio just made a speech to the European defense community in Munich that did not mention Ukraine. Or democracy. Or US business deals with Russia. Or the administration's plans to support the European far right. But there were lots of nice words about our common civilization.

It's been clear for the whole of the last year (and before) that the Trump administration is focused on developing economic ties with Russia; supporting Russia's full rehabilitation; forcing Ukraine's capitulation; and preventing NATO/EU states acting as spoilers.

The two-speed-Europe isn't anything new. We already had Schengen and the Eurozone.
So something similar in the defense realm should be possible.
Why not dust off the 1952 Treaty of Paris? See who wants to join (maybe even non EU members like UK, Norway and... Ukraine?) and take it from there.

And then the Swiss came over with some golden trinkets as gifts and the tariffs were gone.
