I know this is kind of David’s whole beat, but the phenomenon of modern people doing modern evil modernly, and getting called medieval for it, is fascinating and telling.

I like Bsky more than any social platform I’ve used, but my goodness it has big “I knew them before they were cool” energy.

You mention something bad: “are you surprised?” You mention something good: “I knew about that WAY before you.” This is an exhausting, anti-social way to interact, you guys.

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

This is what happens when you lay off most of your social media staff—who would have advised you not to just copy/paste the graphic design pitch deck into an instagram caption.

@hbomax
With the return of the iconic HBO name the updated logo positions the HBO brand prominently, ensuring it is the primary visual read with emphasis on the iconic core, which is embedded in the counter of the "O." This deliberate hierarchy reinforces that the platform's core value proposition remains anchored in HBO's legacy and reputation for excellence.
The "Max" portion of the logo complements this hierarchy in various technical ways. The "Max" mark has been carefully adjusted to a lighter stroke weight compared to its previous iteration. Moreover, the characteristic of the counter "core," previously embedded within the letter "a" of "Max," has been intentionally omitted. This nuanced adjustment respects the visual ownership of the core form as a distinct hallmark of the HBO logo, maintaining clarity and brand integrity.
The "m"'s stems and shoulders were slightly modified while maintaining the balance of the aperture of the letterform. The "a" was completely hand-drawn, with the counter space slightly adjusted toward the stem to give the bowl form and character. The "x"'s diagonal strokes, slightly bowed and tapered to the center axis, creates a flared nuance. Additionally, the width of "Max" has been subtly reduced relative to "HBO," with the overhang of the “O" letterform visually balancing and aligning with the "x," a calculated choice. Overall, the kerning was meticulously calibrated to balance the open spaces between and within the letterforms to ensure a quick read.
To further distinguish the brand within the streaming market, the logo identity features a carefully crafted iridescent treatment; subtle warm and cool tones add depth and perpetual motion. This distinctive visual effect metaphorically embodies the platform's extensive range of content - constantly evolving, vibrant, and multidimensional. This creative approach ensures the brand remains visually distinctive, resonating strongly within the competitive landscape of streaming services.

So this phrase “able-bodied” has clearly been on the most recent list of R talking points. It comes from the first round of English labor laws, which were instituted after the Black Death.

A mini medieval story time!
