the comparative dearth of reporting on NSPM-7 is in part, speaking generously, due I think to how a lot of elite media looks at it like a rant. They are accustomed to things like that being serious legal documents for them to have impact, and in a saner environment, that would be the case. But…
kenklippenstein.bsky.social
Letitia James and James Comey have the best lawyers on earth and will almost certainly be fine. The fact that there’s a zillion stories about them and virtually none about NSPM-7 - which affects countless ordinary people - really says something about who the media writes for

The Senate has just passed the military NDAA containing 2 anti-trans provisions: a surgery ban using federal funds (dependents too), and a sports ban on military academy spaces.

This will be the STARTING point for negotiations with the House, which has even worse provisions.

Only 20 Dems opposed.

Here's an article on what's happening right now if you've missed it. The far-right antifa bogeyman narrative is having real world consequences.

The Mark Bray situation is so completely fucked right now and if you're a journalist you need to start saying how it's fucked because you're fucking next. They won't stop at academics.

"30-year-old conservative lawyer and activist who is Trump’s nominee to lead the Office of Special Counsel, which deals with federal employee whistleblower complaints and discrimination" cancelled his colleague's hotel room so she would be forced to stay with him.
www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didn’t have a hotel room.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.

I donated some copies of Let This Radicalize You for distribution at an ICE watch training for folks who want to join school patrols in a nearby neighborhood. Not everyone got a copy, because 120 people showed up for that training tonight. I am endlessly proud of Chicago.
A display of copies of Let This Radicalize You on a table in front of a sign that reads: "Let This Radicalize You offers stories, strategy and heart for the kind of collective care and resistance we're building together today. It helps us move from reacting to organizing. Showing how ordinary people protect each other, build power, and keep hope alive. Take a copy. Read it. Stay connected."

I like how everyone is cracking up about DHS arresting "the ex girl friend of the founder of antifa" when she is a real person with real federal charges and yall just going to abandon her too?

Why won't anyone do a story on any of us getting railroaded?

Silenced.

The FBI tracked one man down accused of using a laser toward their helicopter and ICE arrested him and his roommates and they're trying to deport them. Feds enjoy punishing people.

Know what you're risking before you do something. A little laser light may feel rewarding in the moment but it's such a little "reward" for the amount of risk. I'm not saying don't take risks, I'm saying be smart in your dissent and there's a thousand ways to help.

They'd likely get you for a federal crime since it's federal agents and if convicted could get up to 5 years prison. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...

Remember kids, don't flash lasers at helicopters, airplanes, or people. They'll get you for shit like that.
Portland police say four arrests were made overnight near the ICE building, including a 28-year-old man from Vancouver who is accused of flashing an air support unit with a laser.

the biggest American protests of all time happened in reaction to the Iraq war but almost nobody, even people who fucking WENT to them, realizes this is the case. That's how long news media has ignored protests. And the whole point of them is to force your way into the media

I've never been into the idea of turning protests into parties where some dreadlock white guy drums or whatever. But I'm into this stupid animal costume shit. You can't get most mainstream news to properly cover traditional protests anymore.

Around 30 protesters and hecklers here in the free speech area tonight. Curfew is in 15 minutes (reportedly, state police were fairly chill about curfew yesterday, but did make the few people still here move across Lexington).

Someone is tempting ISP troopers with a donut on a fishing pole.

Back in federal judge Sara Ellis' courtroom in Chicago for a second day of discussion on a proposed restraining order to rein in federal immigration agents' violent behavior.

Debate began on this issue on Monday, and ended without the court entering a formal order.

@unraveledpress.com & other press have been threatened, shot with less-lethals and arrested while reporting on federal immigration activities in Chicagoland and on the resulting protests at Broadview.

I'm now at a hearing asking the federal court to rein ICE & co in. I'll let you know how it goes.
unraveledpress.com
Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

One significant - & dangerous - thing to watch for is professional commentators objecting to words rather than examining the evidence. It's pearl-clutching & cowardly, obviously, but also a deliberate attempt to avoid confronting exactly what they themselves are facilitating and often cheering on.

“Because that’s what they are”

I think cognitive rigidity is a survival response due to unmet needs.

So if a person's autistic needs are fully met, cognitive rigidity likely wouldn't show up.
