Now that I've finished up my MFA, I have more time for book inhalations!

Given our shared interests, Pamela, this sounds like a book I immediately need in my library! I happen to share a birthday with Gary Snyder, which I think is pretty cool.

Thanks to poet Rob Macaisa Colgate on @davidnaimon.bsky.social's Between the Covers podcast, I now refer to my bed during the day as my "soft office." #freelancewritinglife

I've seen several people refer to AI-resisters as having their heads in the sand over the last few days. But resisting doesn't mean the same thing as ignoring something. On the contrary, resisting means engaging with research, parsing information, offering critique, and making informed choices.

RIP Fanny Howe, whose idea of bewilderment "as a poetics and an ethics" was transformational for me.

It gets even better, Aaron, I'm going to read it at Camp Naivelt!

Fellow writers, what do you wish you had known at the start of your writing journey/career? I'm looking for advice to pass along to my students who are young emerging writers of multiple genres.

I know we're living in hard times and I understand why people are gleefully saying "Oooooh! HBC is gonna have an amazing liquidation sale!" but 1,000s of retail workers will be out of a job with no severance while the big wigs get millions in bonuses.

Capitalism is a hellscape.
Hudson’s Bay to give $3 million in bonuses to managers — while confirming no severance pay for workers
Documents reveal that Hudson’s Bay plans to give managers more than $3 million in bonuses — while confirming there will be no severance pay for workers.

Never mind, I just realized the problem. My newsfeed was set to "Discover." If you click on "Following" you don't get as much randomness.

I'm trying to figure out how to curate my newsfeed; I want more Canadian poets and literary content, but all I seem to be seeing is news-related posts. Any suggestions?

A friend of mine just shared "Have you had water yet today?" as an alternative to "How are you," or way of checking in. It reminded me of something similar one of my Korean ESL students once told me, "Have you eaten yet?" as a casual way of asking how someone is. These seem so much more meaningful!

Oooh, that's a tough one, I would say it's a toss-up between Mosquito&Ant and Narrow Road to the Interior. Although I really loved The Unbearable Heart and her most recent, Foreign Bodies. I don't think I've read any other ones. How about you?

I just registered and so looking forward to this!

OMG, thank you!!! I LOVE Kimiko Hahn and her use of the zuihitsu form changed the way I write. I'm not kidding.

Thanks, Tolu! And congrats to you too on your newest, so looking forward to it.
