Raccoons invaded our attic, so today we put two 250-watt lights up there to shoo them off. So far, so good. Of course, the light shines through the hole in the roof like a 500-watt bat signal. Probably amused the trick-or-treaters tonight.

My dentist decorated for Halloween , not with ghosts, black cats or spiders, but with strips of fake bloody gauze and blood-dripped dental tools! Why? Why? lol

Went to a middle-school Fall Fest -- excited kids singing Monster Mash and other tunes (conducted by new choir director, my daughter-in-law!), along with band, dancers, and artists displaying their works. Life-affirming.

Long live elective arts in the public school system.

Yesterday: Feeding Texas estimates that its 20 member banks have lost a total of $57.6 million in federal funding cuts, and that’s only in immediate canceled funding. But this could actually be on the low end of the potential impact range.

Texas needs change, but one thing I hope never changes is HEB. It's sad that the current problem is happening, but HEB is always there to help people. San Antonio is "Military City USA" so this is a big deal to many.

I'm a nerd who stops at a stop sign even on a sleepy street with little traffic.

Good thing. Today I was nearly broad-sided on that same street by an idiot who thinks stop signs are optional.

Stop signs are not suggestions. Full stop. (See what I did there?)

I was friends with a charming elderly actor, Florence "Baby Twinks" Kenyon, who at age 6, played young Katherine in the 1920 silent, Wuthering Heights.

She's gone now and seeing that film has been on my movie bucket list. I just learned that it's a "lost film," no copies. Darn it. #scriptsky
