Do any #academicsky friends have experience with Yuja Panorama? My school is integrating it into our LMS starting this winter, and I am simultaneously very supportive of its purpose (checking course materials for accessibility) and very skeptical of ed tech in general. Any tips/warnings/etc?

My colleague points out here that possibly one in seven requests to our library now may be assisted by LLMs.

When those point to fictional documents, that's a huge staff time drain. There's often no quick way to check if an undigitized primary source doc exists beyond physically pulling some boxes.

Semi-regular plug for @acts435.bsky.social. As part of your Advent preparation, if you have the capacity to help someone be warm and fed on Christmas day, this is a great way to make sure a donation gets to someone on the knife edge of poverty. Every little really does help.

You will see this widely misrepresented by mainstream media (BBC et al) & politicians (Bad Enoch) as a win for Peggie, but ALL the claims Peggie made against Dr Beth Upton FAILED.
The only findings in Peggie’s favour was against Fife Health Board related to it’s investigation process & management.

Tech horrors mean I'm not doing what I wanted to do now and am finishing off marking instead. I mean, it's not *bad* but I'm not delighted about it.

Last week of term. The usual mix of 'no, this really does have to be done before Christmas' and '...actually, this can wait until January' awaits. Plus four hours of bonus carousel teaching on Wednesday. And a pile of marking. Still, we'll get there.

I belong to the camp of #Strictly viewers who feels that it's a show about people with limited or no dance experience learning a new skill, and thus feel quietly satisfied with that result. Although obviously it's sad for the pro that they don't get to power through.

I'm afraid that I'm still not loving this salsa-that-is-not-a-salsa. It's not an easy track to dance to, and I'm afraid I'm still not sold by this choreo. #Strictly

#Strictly While I'm sure this is hitting the demand of a certain audience segment, I am afraid that I am not it.

I typed this before I saw the chap with the seagull on his head and the Hello Sailor moment. And I still don't think I am it.
