Not gonna link the troll but Bari Weiss clearly represents “thought police” more than 100,000 Bluesky leftists scolding you for writing a defense of Weiss ever will, and ignoring that reality is clearly designed to curry the favor of thought police. You’re not a free thinker, you’re the boot licker.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

He’s desperate it seems to get to a place that doesn’t exist.

Which is fitting in many ways given that everything about Trump isn’t ‘real’.

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

I am embarrassed for Sally to make such a stupid post. I am also embarrassed I ever subscribed to the Atlantic.

Ratio me. Please. It's a badge of honor. If you don't like a link, go follow some chicken-heart who needs the approval of the thought-police. Caitlin Flanagan of @theatlantic.com is a tremendous writer and this piece is an excellent read. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Fair point. When I send invoices for freelance pieces, I'm often asked to include whether I prefer to be paid through direct deposit, a paper check, or cold hard cash in a Cava bag at a pre-arranged drop site.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Did Tom Homan give the $50,000 back?

VANCE: He did not take a bribe. It's a ridiculous smear

STEPHANOPOULOS: You didn't answer the question

VANCE: Did he accept $50,000? I'm sure that in the course of Homan's life, he's been paid more than $50k for services.

(So, no, he didn't)

I’ve enjoyed the many posters who have replied to me who think they know the English language better than the Oxford dictionary.

I’ve also enjoyed the people who have decided that a citing a definition form the foremost English language dictionary is somehow ‘antisemitic’.
locutusof.bsky.social
I didn’t say they were equivalent. If you think I did, please post where.

Tom, who I was replying to, doesn’t think genocide is the right term for what happened in the Americas to indigenous people, 90% of which died.

Words have meaning, often multiple, no one has a monopoly.

And hebthinks
locutusof.bsky.social
I did read the whole thing.

I cited a definition of historical usage of the term.

It’s a word. No culture, religion, or nation has a monopoly on it.

Also, the person I was responding to doesn’t think ‘genocide’ is the right word for what happened to 90% of indigenous people in the Americas. 🤷

I just shared oxford dictionary definition.

Please read.
locutusof.bsky.social
Well, one culture can have a singular meaning for something.

That doesn’t mean every other culture can’t have their own meaning.

I am not making a semantic argument. I am citing the foremost English language dictionary in the world. The citation comes with historical uses.

Oxford University disagrees with you on the definition, fwiw. And while I’m sure you’re a wonderful person, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

This pic shows historical references of the word and the definition I am referring to.
locutusof.bsky.social
Nope. I landed on holocaust because of someone else’s post, namely Tom’s.

I don’t weaponize trauma.

I posted an Oxford dictionary definition.

If you think posting a definition from the most respected dictionary in the world is weaponizing something, you should probably stay away from words.
locutusof.bsky.social
Wow.

You are an ignorant and repugnant person.

I don’t hate Jews. Or Christians. Or Muslims. I’m an atheist with two degrees, and statistically speaking my IQ is about 50 points higher than yours. So, no I am not slow or stupid either.

I gave you a definition.

You said I hate Jews.

🤷🤗🤨
locutusof.bsky.social
I just cut and pasted Oxford Dictionary’s definition for this person.

But based on their post I don’t think they care about reality.
locutusof.bsky.social
I am aware of both the Hebrew word and other definitions.

Historically it was a religious reference.

It can also mean destroying something by fire.

But the modern usage is quite clear…

Don’t trust me, though. Let’s consult
Oxford…

I am fine with bringing Bibi to justice.

But words have meanings for a reason.

Tom doesn’t like all kids of ‘woke’ words. Those words and terms he feels are wrong or not productive.

Then he will make posts seemingly unaware what other highly charged words mean…🤷
