A close up of a large long haired tortoise shell cat draped over a cat scratcher. She looks so relaxed as she is just poured over the scratcher but the look on her face is one of sheer annoyance with all things.

I know my neighbors give me side eye, but I love my messy, chaotic front yard. It's a Chicago front yard, so there is not much space. But I can sit on my porch and watch butterflies and listen to crickets. And this only requires the amount of upkeep my body is capable of. Also, my cats approve.
A messy hodge podge of wild flower bushes with white, pink, yellow and purple flowers. There is some catnip in the foreground. There are also a few weeds visible. In the far background, a black iron fense covered with vines can be seen. Checking out all of this is a long haired grey and white cat on a leash.

Hundreds of people have already been taken and you have done nothing but posture.

ICE has been coming for the people of Chicago for weeks and this man has been helping them by protecting their operation from peaceful protestors.

There is no reason to believe @govpritzker.illinois.gov when he says this now. ICE has already come for hundreds of his people.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov is furiously writing letters. I feel so much better already. /s

Posting with proper alt text. Imgine being visually impaired clicking through the alt text to see what the letter says and all you get is "letter from JB pritzker" not really useful!
From Pritzker:

Dear Governor Stitt:
On April 29th, 2024, I joined you and 51 of our colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden's
Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, voicing our opposition to Legislative Proposal 480. In that
letter, we stood united-53 Governors strong-around a fundamental principle: "Ensuring the
National Guard is adequately equipped with resources and capabilities to serve as the operational
combat reserve for national security missions and to support domestic emergencies is among the
National Governors Association's highest priorities."
Together, Democratic and Republican Governors unequivocally reminded the Biden Administration
of a shared commitment: "For over a century, Title 10 and Title 32 of U.S.C. have upheld
gubernatorial authority over the National Guard. National Guard assets are critical components of
states and territories' responses to crises. Governors must maintain full authority as Commanders in
Chief of these assets to protect operational readiness and America's communities."
Our collective belief then-and my unwavering conviction now-is that actions "that sidestep,
eliminate or otherwise reduce Governors' authority within their states and territories undermine
longstanding partnerships, precedence, military readiness and operational efficacy. This action also
negatively affects the important relationships between Governors and the federal government at a
time when we need full trust and confidence to meet growing threats posed by strategic competition
as well as natural disasters."
The principles we defended in April 2024 rose above party lines and presidential administrations. constitutional imperatives that demand protection regardless of the occupant of the White House.
That is why I am calling on you, as Chair of the National Governors Association, to speak out
against the unconstitutional deployment of Texas National Guard units into Illinois without my
consent or authorization. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said he authorized, in coordination with
President Trump, his state's National Guard to operate within Illinois borders - a direct violation of
the principles we all defended just months ago. This is precisely the federal and interstate overreach
we warned against-gubernatorial authority being trampled, state sovereignty being ignored, and
the constitutional balance between states being attacked. If the President continues overriding
Governors to deploy military assets into another state against another Governor's will, we have

1

abandoned the foundational principles that have protected our Republic for nearly 250 years. This
action must be denounced immediately and unequivocally by the National Governors Association.
The credibility of the National Governors Association-and our integrity as state executives-rests
on our willingness to apply our principles consistently, regardless of which administration attacks
them. Should National Governors Association leadership choose to remain silent, Illinois will have
no choice but to withdraw from the organization. I remain hopeful that principled leadership will
prevail over political calculation and we can chart a path forward together.
Sincerely,

Governor JB Pritzker

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

I think it's also really shitty when they do find the people on their lists because that 50% matters too. Every person detained is a tragedy. Each one.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov has no problem sending state police against people to defend ICE.
govpritzker.illinois.gov
This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will. It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.
logansolsun.bsky.social
Not only this, but if the community won't cut off the abuser, you have to find a new community.

It's so hard to do, but people who are willing to remain in community with an abuser are not safe. You deserve better. You'll be happier, too.
chantalalive.blacksky.app
A serial abuser is nothing without the network (of people, online or off) they draw their victims & apologists from. That's why the community has to cut them off.

This is why we say don't praise politicians for what they say, praise them for what they do.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov isn't doing anything to actually help our community being terrorized by ICE.

But he is helping brutalize protestors.

Liberalism aligns with fascism.

Anytime. It's all nonsense with Indivisible. I would give them more credit if they admitted their goal was to protect the privilege of whiteness. Like, don't even try the solidarity thing when you left marginalized folks to defend themselves during Biden. We got receipts.

I would like to know what exactly @govpritzker.illinois.gov and @mayorofchicago.bsky.social are doing about this.

Do not fucking tell me to just record ICE when this is happening.

Thanks to fascist voters, pudding-brained non-voters, a broken Congress, and a broken SCOTUS, this rank corruption and authoritarian control of the economy is simply how things work now in the failed state of American.

Pfizer Inc. Chief Executive Officer Albert Bourla said the company secured a three-year grace period from President Donald Trump’s promised tariffs on pharmaceuticals in a deal that would lower some of the company’s US drug prices.

Pfizer will sell some drugs at a 50% average discount on a direct-to-consumer website called TrumpRx, an initiative intended to allow Americans to pay for prescriptions at discounted rates negotiated by the government.

The deal appears to resolve two major threats facing Pfizer. It would stave off more damaging drug pricing policies while shielding the company from future tariffs imposed by the administration’s Section 232 investigation into whether the cost of medicine represents a national security threat.
