I wish I still had my Amiga 600 to tinker with. I did not think I would ever miss it, so I left it behind when I moved and I'm pretty sure it just got thrown into the trash. :(

I thought my external storage was dying so I bought a replacement.

The new one started acting up immediately as well.

I tested a known, good thumb drive and it exhibited same behavior.

Turns out it's the USB hub I was using. 🤦‍♂️

Things I learned about Solaris while trying to make my bash script portable across many platforms:

- there's no /usr/local/ on solaris
- there are two versions of grep (you want /usr/xp4g/bin/grep)
- tar does not support the -C flag when extracting
