The Australia Institute proudly co-hosted a climate summit yesterday, attended by people from all over Australia.

And although there were lots of different views, everyone agreed on one thing: it's time to stop the expansion of fossil fuels.

Today is Rā Maumahara, the national day of commemoration for the New Zealand Wars and anniversary of the signing of He Whakaputanga.
Act marked the occasion by sending out an email with the subject line "Aotearoa Histories Curriculum is History".
Can we expect "Poppies banned!" for ANZAC day? 🤦‍♀️

Oxfam blamed tax havens in a 2016 report for the widening gap between rich and poor. "Tax havens are at the core of a global system that allows large corporations and wealthy individuals to avoid paying their fair share, depriving governments of resources they need to provide vital public services".

Spectacular(ly scary) article.

I discovered @sarahkendzior.bsky.social in 2015 & a decade later she's still my go-to on all-things autocracy.

"The Trump administration is a transnational crime syndicate masquerading as a government".

Follow her. You won't regret it, I promise
In 2005, I wrote an article called "Inventing Akromiya" about how the government of Uzbekistan made up a group called Akromiya to justify a massacre of civilian protesters.

Twenty years later, the US is more like Uzbekistan, and I wrote "Inventing Antifa": sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/inventing-...
Inventing Antifa
In 2005, the Uzbek government invented a group called “Akromiya” to justify massacring protesters. Now I worry the US government will do the same.

Remember, if you cant attend strike action today due to weather or other factors, you can still bully the governments social media in support of workers instead.

Inpex has been under-reporting cancer-causing emissions from its Icthys LNG plant in Darwin, as reported this week in The Australian.

"The minimum criteria for stagflation are high inflation, slow or negative economic growth (stagnant or declining output), and high unemployment.

This is difficult to manage because policies that combat one problem often worsen the others."
Sounds very similar to the kind of independent David Seymours regulatory standards board will enjoy
