James Callis always so fun to watch. Loving his Slow Horses character.

And makes me want to rewatch some Battlestar.

I’m so proud of my daughter in Seattle.

She doesn’t have much money (she’s a preschool teacher with a preschooler of her own) but she has a big bag of Costco flour — so she’s baking sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls every week for people in her neighborhood who are furloughed or lost SNAP…

From a business side it’s cool seeing D(e)ad do this scaled “tour” model of adding screens at indie theaters as it finds its audience. Doesn’t hurt to have Dropout fandom turning up, but it’s a good model for indie filmmakers looking to self distro.

Also it’s a fun film!

D(e)AD (2025)
Tillie, a floundering young woman and her charismatic, alcoholic father, struggle to resolve their fractured relationship in the weirdest possible way: after he dies, his ghost appears in mirrors to haunt everyone in the family but Tillie. Tillie’s family must do everything they can to make Tillie see her father or else they will be plagued by this ghost forever.

I need a mouse these days for any computer task.

This "old" man hates using a trackpad. I bring a portable mouse everywhere and feel lost when I forget to. I flat out refuse to edit video without a mouse. But even simple tasks like screenwriting, I prefer having a mouse.

No more Black or trans staffers. No politics of any kind. The cowardice of mainstream media isn't just insulting, it's *boring.* Now TV is just like any other beauty rag. Why not just kill it quickly? Why the slow-motion pretense?
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

There are still 37 working days left in 2025 - 58 days total. There's still plenty of time to hit that writing goal & finish that script or book.

3 pages a day - just 750 words a weekday - and you can write a complete script. 4 pages a day - 1000 wds a day - and you can write a novel. You got this.

It might suck.

It might flop.

But I’d rather fail a million times and get closer to the life I want than settle for a life that is safe and easy.

Anyone seen any good horror shorts with plants or ecological themes at festivals lately?

Looking for some more films that might pair well with Vines in an upcoming anthology series.

Sorry if I seem to be harping on things a bit much today. I spent a portion of my adult life DIRT FUCKING POOR. Once, while out of work for three weeks, a friend (a 19yr old waitress) bought me two weeks of groceries and kept me alive. I've never forgotten that kindness and aim to be more like her.
