When it comes to the landscape of the discourse, I believe that you should always lead with principles. Not because people are principled but because it's easier to reiterate core principles than policy, which can be complex and confusing.

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

The report says dems put, "too much emphasis" on democracy. These people need to seriously sit down and think about why we have democracy in the first place and what happens when it goes away. AI generated images look like visual plastic. I'm more or less glad they're so easy to spot because of the particular fairness it gives off but I also hate seeing it used by various public figures because it screams laziness and inauthenticity, a thing politicians already struggle with!

Correct, which means the system of facilitating predominantly car-based travel and assuming public transit is for poor people has led to basically the same outcomes across the US (basically except NYC but also Robert Moses still tried) and LA is just the biggest version of that.
