🚨Our first Easy Sunday Morning Ride with Florida fall weather will start LATER at 8:30am!🚨

We'll ride through Riverside Heights, see where the West Riverwalk loop will connect with the current Riverwalk, and stop at Cafe Hey for coffee. Rides are around 10 miles at 8-10mph.

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

I get that. We do have night meetings twice a month as well. We allow folks to participate virtually at any meeting, and our council actually reads emails. There are a lot of small levers you can push if you want to make change.

We very intentionally do not limit public comment—we also allow comment virtually (speakers do have to sign up in advance). Folks talk about things on the agenda, ask for help with a problem, or speak on a random topic. It's often my favorite part of the meeting & definitely impacts its focus.

This is true. I don't know from Tampa and many cities limit the length of public comment. But these local meetings are dry, boring, and essential to democracy.

Yes! We’re using the one from Tim’s office until the replacement gets delivered. It feels like a serious luxury after 5+ weeks of using a dorm fridge.

I try to keep track of most of my earworms in a Spotify playlist if you ever wondered what's going on in my head!

Between now and meaningful change in your community are 1,000 boring meetings that need good people to attend.

I’ve been at home convalescing with Covid & wanted a light-hearted read. The Road to Tender Hearts was in my Kindle borrow pile, & I can’t recommend it enough. Zany yet moving.
An older man is pushing a red station wagon in the desert with a boy and woman inside and a girl lying on the roof. An orange cat is running next to the man.

Cover of The Road to Tender Hearts: A Novel by Annie Hartnett.
Author of Unlikely Animals and Rabbit Cake.

Asking my husband what real college games are on every Saturday is my favorite long-running joke.

We are not that old! It’s not possible.

Nope. It wasn’t an SEC game, so why would I?

My last class of 4th graders can all legally drink now. I know how you feel!

Ha! A good joke is a good joke.

Thank you so much for those kind words! My goal is to work as hard for Tampeños as I've always wanted all of my elected officials to work for me.

On the flip side, every city should be as lucky as Tampa is to have someone as dedicated as @lynnhurtak.com

6 more council members that take the job as serious as she does with as much care & compassion we’d have a dynasty.

Lindsey, you and Fisher have been in my thoughts all day. Please give him extra pets for me & know that you have such a giant community rooting for you both. ❤️

We're doing a preview ride for World Car Free Day this Sunday by riding from Henry & Ola to Midtown. If you don't want to bike from the Heights, you can meet us downtown at Cass & the Riverwalk. This ride will be a few miles longer than normal, 12-13 miles at 8-10 MPH.
Two people riding bikes on a path with trees and bushes surrounding them, along with a "no cars" sign in the middle. Text:

Do you know when your local elections are this year? The primary?

The best way you can honor Sen. Hortman is vote someone of integrity into your city council, your library board, your school committee, your state government.

Ps don’t forget in the midst of all this crazy national violence, that there are many local people running for office in your community for reasons that are good.

Go support them.

@darthbluesky.bsky.social, can we get a thread going of dogs looking really happy to see us? I feel like I’m gonna need that to get up tomorrow.
Charlie, showing off his asymmetrical ears and absolutely ludicrous amounts of enthusiasm for your mere presence.

Thank you!! It was a SLOG last year to get 4 votes. The pilot has been wildly successful, but you just never know. The public has been super supportive as well. I am so so happy to be able to expand this for all who rely on transit!
