Yes, it’s illegal. Like changing it to Department of War, like ten thousand other things. Part of the Trump strategy is to break the law and convey “the rule of law is weak and feminine and laughable and should be overridden by Our Guy.” Trump is fundamentally anti-law.

I have tried three different soles with three different types of traction this week and still slip and slide in NY subway stations. Not sure why they chose a flooring that gets so slick in wet conditions.

The only thing you really need to know about the Royal Family's Christmas lunch is that Andrew was not invited and instead was caught riding his horse alone in the pouring rain. The picture is all you could hope for.

My Hanukkah gift to Bluesky is a new moderation list, which I have started in response to recent events. I have no tolerance for this wickedness and I encourage you to block these people.

My parents didn't live long enough to use much of their IRA's so we inherited them. Each year you're mandated to take a portion and I have mine direct deposited during Hannukah. Even though I know it's coming, I still get surprised... their gift arrived tonight, Happy Hannukah!

FYI, the sidewalk on Charles St by the old parking lot by Penn Station is a sheet off ice. Don't bother crossing the street, that's also a sheet of ice.

I just read the new SPINAL TAP book and there’s a moment where Rob Reiner and the rest of the cast ask each other which projects will lead their obituary. Rob was sure “Meathead” was going to be the first line of his.

Tonight, everyone’s teeing off with “one of the greatest directing runs ever”

I promise if you’re not Jewish and don’t know any Jews quite well you really do not understand the level of justified paranoia baked into most public Jewish gatherings: Security at swimming lessons at the JCC, off duty police outside a bar mitzvah as a favour, etc. It shocked me.
Synagogues were safe until they weren’t. JCC were safe until they weren’t. Public beaches, public parks…risk is something I think about every single time I take my family to school, pray, exist as Jews
My kids woke up so excited this morning for the first night of Hannukah and now yet again we have a festival where I’m very conflicted about whether it’s safe to take them to synagogue to celebrate. Communities shouldn’t have to live like this.

The anti-Semitic mass shooting in Australia will cause a national conversation and policy change. We know this because the 1996 Port Arthur massacre led to significant restrictions on guns.
The shooting at Brown will do nothing. We know this because it occurred on the anniversary of Sandy Hook.

Anyway, it’s really beautiful outside, just like that song, White Hannukah, by Israel Beilin.

It is very enterprising of someone to ring my doorbell with a shovel but there is like one inch out there. Not to mention, I was asleep and had barely rolled over before he was gone.

“Commercial breaks were largely filled with spots from direct-response advertisers, including the dietary supplement SuperBeets.

“Viewers of of the telecast on WCBS, the CBS flagship in New York, saw a commercial for Chia Pet, the terra-cotta figure that sprouts plant life after a few weeks.”
Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

I keep seeing this in my feed and I have thoughts. First off, edtech isn't meant to solve a problem per se, it's meant to engage students and prepare them for the world they're entering. Second, it isn't edtech, it's how schools use edtech. And last, why is this either/or? Let's do both!
