I hate international travel at the best of times. But Hahaha!, this is so dumb, dangerous and a colossal breach of privacy I can’t help but laugh in absolute despair. The US should and will be avoided like the plague. #America #USA

US plans to start checking all tourists' social media
The potential social media mandate being proposed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would apply to anyone visiting, whether they require a visa or not.

Cut my hair yesterday and switched up the color a bit, and found out my 20 year old hairdresser (had her since she was an apprentice) thought I was 35. Been a while since I was that flattered, she couldn't believe my age.

Honestly, one of the biggest mistakes the AI-firms have made have been to forcibly integrate it in everything, because that means we all who don't want it needs to be vocal and angry at being forced to have it, so all the more neutral bystanders notice that this is loathed and hated.

Finally needed to buy a new phone, and it took forever because both my first choices were so integrated with AI it would be hard to remove. Third choice it was, what a plague upon the world AI is. The store guy was "yeah a lot of people want AI gone"

I'm begging any artists still using Twitter claiming it's integral to their work to just leave. It's been revealed the site works off a made up "credit score" from hell and punishes you for posting like a normal human being.

Abandon Twitter for good. It's time. It's been time.

why are all these ai ads so awful, cynical, bitter, demeaning, negative, insulting and injurious to the human spirit?

whether made with ai, or made to sell ai. the *text* is bleak.

including the ipad crush ad in here

what the hell is in the water
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Let's dissect Apple's terrible iPad ad and see what it says about understanding your customers
Yesterday, Tim Cook (forever Tim Apple to my mind) shared the ad for the new iPad Pro. It went over like a lead balloon full of kittens in a hydraulic press. Somehow Apple — one of the last tech cos...

Does anyone know if there is an online archive of old (70s/80s specifically) White Dwarf magazines? I know Games Workshop is especially litigious so I can't imagine there is but as an amateur hobby historian it would greatly interest me!

I played Horses this weekend and I wrote down some messy thoughts not only on the game but especially on the specter of formalism that emerged to haunt us all for a moment.

Great thread. And a key point: the transphobia of today is very similar to the homophobia I saw growing up.
Something I'd like to address. There's this idea that TQ+ folk are all 21 year-old art students... and all the 'normal' old school folk are LGB and entirely left behind and confused by 'pronouns'...

Every talk I give, know who the most outspoken trans allies are? Queer folk in their 70s!!

I don't consider "it's gay" to necessarily be a selling point, but I've played enough surrealist indie games where the narrative turns out to be a strained allegory for the straight male developer breaking up with his girlfriend that at this point I get redflagged by even a whiff of heterosexuality.
