Catching up on the Clawdbot / Moltbot frenzy of the past week. Claire Vo has made a walkthrough video cutting through the hype, focus on security risks, idiosyncrasies in how the Bot behaves, and other pitfalls. If you are curious, well recommended. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcFO...

Is the humble Sunday Roast having a massive revival? Caribbean twist at 2210 in Herne Hill, Thai at White Horse in Peckham, Anatolian at Mangal II in Dalston, Portuguese at The Macbeth in Hoxton... And yesterday a friend mentioned an Indian take on Sunday Roast somewhere that I already forgot.

My random quote gadget sent me this from Tiamat's Wrath. Worth pondering in this moment: "That’s the thing about autocracy. It looks pretty decent while it still looks pretty decent. Survivable, anyway. And it keeps looking like that right up until it doesn’t. That’s how you find out it’s too late."

If you feel a bit low, or want a break from the doom news cycle, take 10 and enjoy the first track from this Underworld concert in Sydney. I love the crowd shots, people losing themselves in the music. This is my people. This is my church. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfhK...

Never underestimate the Trump.
I've done My Week: Donald Trump (again) for tomorrow. My first draft genuinely had a joke about Trump thinking there were penguins in Greenland but I took it out because it seemed too stupid.

Yes, and it's also perfectly fine to like U2 up to and including Rattle and Hum and then... ...not.
My advice: Like what you like and don't worry about anyone who tells you it's cringe. Life's short and the world's on fire, and as long as you're not hurting other people, you're fine. I mean, I still like U2, too! I don't care who knows it. If other people don't like that, that's a them problem.
I love U2. I feel like I could have glided along, enjoying them, if it wasn’t for that damned internet. Now I am on the defensive or lying low with my fandom. That’s happening somewhat now with Taylor Swift. She’s the biggest star in the world but the backlash has begun. “Mom pop”?

Gutted to hear that the key ingredient for Janssons Temptation, classic Swedish Christmas dish, is very hard to find this year due to what sounds like over-fishing. Need to find a sustainable substitute for next year.

This looks absolutely stunning. And my favourite games are the ones where you must make story altering decisions.
🌿 Verdant is a singleplayer survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world, frozen in the 80s.

🌺 You wield the power to take or restore life - and combat is always just a last resort.

When Labour says @zackpolanski.bsky.social is "using his platform to sow division and grievance", what they mean is that he's using it to push for justice and equality.

They *hate* when people do that.

It's a bloody good speech. No wonder they're freaking out.

This is the kind of detailed and stringent questioning we need to see more of. And it needs to be broadcasted far and wide. What a clown he is. 🤡
Farage promise to "stop the boats within two weeks of winning gov't" unravelling.

Apparently, it means "after passing laws", "as quickly as possible", he "believes", the boats will still cross, but all will be deported "if necessary" and "sensible", "unless we have a duty of care".

Bravo, Beth! 👏🏽

I find the drooling sycophancy and complete lack of analysis in his report quite frankly disturbing.
Chris Mason is a profoundly unserious man who writes about politics as if it were a video game with no real consequences. True to form, this article is purely about optics. Not a single policy is mentioned

The conference feels like that of a big party - but retains the insurgency vibe that the party is seeking to channel.

This is a great post, I wish someone handed it to me when I was 13. If you watch one thing today, watch the clip with Nina Simone at the bottom of the page. Filled my eyes with tears and my heart with joy. And I don't know if it was intentional, but it's made even more powerful after that long read.
OK so feeling slightly apprehensive about this, which I suppose is kind of the point. This is an attempt at a progressive view on masculinity and on men getting laid. God help me. iandunt.substack.com/p/how-to-be-...
How to be a man
The right story narrative about male attractiveness is grounded in Social Darwinism and free market economics. Can progressives tell a better story?

Sounds like something universities all over should do. A bit like how that internet thing happened.
For Google, Meta, OpenAI & Grok, AI is a monster that feeds on planetary-scale data lakes while boiling the oceans. But other than these losers’ need to make up for getting flushed in high school, there's no reason why this tech should be harnessed in the service of gigaprofits and neofascism.
