I wish this weren't true, but we now have take his threats about Greenland more seriously, and start to talk about the world-changing mistake if he chose to go to war with Europe - which would essentially guarantee the rest of this century is China's.

The prime minister of Denmark is right to say that “if the United States were to choose to attack another NATO country, the international community, democratic rules, NATO, the world’s strongest defensive alliance—all of that would collapse…”

But collapsing NATO is a feature not a bug for Trump.

We’re seeing this dynamic at all levels of government now and it’s harming our communities.

Time to cut the shit and elect people who want to get things done and behave with basic decency.
New, from me: The Trump administration isn’t just using social media to shape a narrative. They view the world through a social media lens in a way that is plausibly corrupting their judgment and undermining their performance.

J6 prosecutor: “It’s more maddening than it is anything else. I spent years of my life watching the events of that day unfold in front of me again and again and again. I spoke with dozens and dozens of people who were there that day and who are still dealing with the trauma.”
Five years after Jan. 6, Trump is rewriting the narrative around the Capitol siege
More actions are expected, including possible payments to compensate Jan. 6 defendants, as the White House launches a webpage dedicated to Trump's claims.

This scandal will be a GOP opening for supercharged austerity. Officials will reach for "AI" systems which have been repeatedly shown to stop benefits from getting to those who are entitled to them. Protecting the vulnerable will include resisting what will become intense federal bullying/coercion.

Officers like @libradunn1.bsky.social saved my life and my colleagues’ lives on January 6th. I’m forever grateful to the law enforcement officials who courageously defended our Capitol and our democracy from the armed insurrectionists.

We need new models of international relations to understand Trump and his administration - put simply, it's a Royal Court, with decisions made by an individual. Allies are transactional, who can face attack if it is seen to benefit the Court.

Here are four people who should be celebrated as national heroes from that day, rather than the despicable violent mob and the corrupt politicians who instigated it.

Aquillo Gonell, Michael Fanone, Daniel Hodges, and Harry Dunn

On the fifth anniversary of the insurrection, I can only say that its profoundly sad that convicted seditionists face no consequences and that Trump was ever allowed to hold office again.
Jan. 6 was one of the most shameful days in our history, only the whitewashing is sadder.
Its pathetic frankly.

Accurate things that apparently make you a ne0librul $hill to say.
Biden actually did a lot of shit that internet lefty types said for years would cause a massive swell of support for Democratic policies and by the end of Biden's term everyone hated it and no one was particularly interested in defending him personally or the policy regime he put in place
If you want Democrats to start acting like Republicans, then Democratic voters/supporters are going to have to start acting like Republican voters/supporters, and that means not nit-picking every single word that comes out of Dems' mouths when there are much bigger issues to message about.

NYT:

The death toll for the US attack on Venezuela has risen to 80, including civilians and members of security forces, and could rise further.
