Left my office to be confronted by this - surely a sign to go all in on Untitled Goose Studies and leave Film Studies behind?
A large white inflatable goose sits outside Warwick university SU, a building of deeply confusing geometry and clashing materials. The goose is in front of some bricks. It has an orange conical beak and dull black eyes, like a shark

Untitled Goose Game might be my favourite text to teach

Another term of teaching Transnational Action Cinema means another screening of Police Story 3 and Maggie Cheung throwing her shoe at Jackie Chan and using "your mum" as a comeback. The action is pretty good too

Youtube also appears to have the entire Hildegard docudrama, with Routledge as Hildegard von Bingen youtu.be/ue0yOfBgudg?... which I appreciate might be a bit niche but is worth a look if my memory serves

Such a simple bit of physical comedy, masterfully played every time. The shift in pronunciation of "dawgs" also a wonderful little class observation. An unmatched comic character

Just in case Elon's seal of un-approval isn't enough, believe me that Dead End is perfect Halloween viewing for kids and young people - especially (but not only) if they identify anywhere on the queer or neurodiverse spectrum

It's probably going to be a very odd day
Screenshot of Elon Musk tweeting "this is not ok" as a reply to Libs of TikTok posting "omg. Dead end paranormal park, a show on netflix, is pushing pro-teangeder on CHILDREN. This show is advertised for 7-year-olds. It's being promoted on netflix kids now. Parents - beware" with an attached photo of Barney from the show.

Elon's tweet has 3.6k comments, 8.7k retweets, 60k likes and 4.2million views

I also think I would struggle to get the level of funding required for Edmund Burke to be able to come and do a talk, although if they make allowances for remote talks I think Parker Brothers might have the answer
jonmladd.bsky.social
Inviting pundits to give "talks" is just not what professors/departments do. Some schools have "institutes of politics" that do this, like @gupolitics.bsky.social at Georgetown, which invites conservatives regularly. Departments invite scholars for talks, and I rarely know their personal politics.

More than anything, they want to be patted on the head and told they're a good boy by the liberal elites

the Command & Conquer series is 30 years old today we so have an excuse to share this iconic moment with Tim Curry

Feel a bit called out by Netflix putting a cheery "we think you'll love this 👍👍" on Birth/Rebirth along with the description "a pathologist... brings a child back from the dead with increasingly horrific consequences"

Was just browsing the files of my copy of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter (steam download) and there is a file named Glup Shitto0.plt which I promise I did not create
Photographic evidence of the Gulp Shitto0.plt file, surround by more sensible files such as Install.bat
