Thank you to everyone who has picked up a copy of my first short story collection. Your interest is much appreciated, a rare bright spot in a grim year.

When Biden was president, people whispered “merry christmas.” (You could tell the letters were lower-case.) The Grinch stole “the holidays.” Ralphie pined for a Red Rider bb gun in “A Birthday Story.”

All super rich guys sound the same now. It’s all “I sleep four hours a night and spend the other twenty hours a day developing a product that’s going to bring us the best widespread poverty anyone’s ever seen.”

Every story I've ever hammered out when "things are slow at work" has been a joy to write.

Now to The Horrors.

In his blog post
CREATING PERSONAL MEANING IN A DARK WORLD IS HOW WE TAKE A STAND,
Matt said “finding joy in being a creative person is an act of rebellion.”

Share a creative outlet that brings you joy and/or feels like an act of rebellion.

My dream for my writing career is for it to BE a career.

#HorrorWritersChat
#HorrorWritersChat Q3

This one is going to be hard.

One of the last things Matt asked us at Horror Writers Chat was to share a horror writing related dream.

This can be;
> an actual dream that inspired you.
> a dream you have for your writing career.

Interpret this any way you’d like.

It's a community, a way of seeing and making sense of the world, my way of creating things that will outlive me.

#HorrorWritersChat
#HorrorWritersChat Q2
This is one of Matt’s favourite questions to ask us:

What does horror mean to you?

A bit late to #HorrorWritersChat today.

Tom Coombe here, author of cosmic/folk/religious horror.

I didn’t really know Matt, not even in the way we get to “know” people online, but I am grateful he launched this little tradition.
#HorrorWritersChat Q1
Thanks for attending our gathering today.

First, introduce yourself & share the horror subgenres you write.

Then, please share a happy memory you have of Matt OR a happy memory of being part of this community he started.

If the feelings are too raw right now, post a candle 🕯️

Then there's @calmtomb.bsky.social with Episode Guide: Tymberwolves, which neatly reveals the titular cartoon's dark secrets piece by piece.

Got rid of Spotify this year. Glad as I am to not support them, I was bummed I wouldn’t get my 2025 Wrapped.

All that’s changed. I just received this AMAZING letter from my personal music curator Tunes Michaels. He’s been incredible at making CD playlists that cater to my tastes. Highly recommend

It’s a weird feeling to learn that a guy who has made some of your favorite movies thinks Black Hawk Down is better than There Will Be Blood
I'm not going to pretend these are bad films (I don't even mind the Woody film) but this doesn't exactly scream "voracious cinephile with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of genre and world cinema" so much as "dad who watches a lot of TNT."

As a teenager: Fisher's News Agency, Ashland PA, a glorious place. RIP (store and its much-missed owner)

College: The now defunct Dreamscape Comics, Bethlehem PA

Adulthood: Wade's Comic Madness, Levittown PA
What have been your #LCS local comic shops over the years? Mine:

Teenager. Cosmic Comics (defunct)- downtown Cleveland

College. Monkey's Retreat (defunct)- a few blocks north of Ohio State. This was the best one.

My 20s & 30s. Northcoast Comics (defunct)- Cleveland.

That's pretty much it.

Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?
