If you can make it out to the lineup spots for any of the parades, do it. Guarantee there's gonna be a battle of the marching bands and dance groups every block. It's pure joy and energy, the good kind of energy. Universal salve.

The idea that an 5-year-old citizen is somehow harmed by a 5-year-old non-citizen being present within our borders makes my blood boil
Gonzales on Liam Ramos and his family: "They're not gonna qualify for asylum. So what do you do with all the people that go through the process and do not qualify for asylum? You deport them. I understand that 5-year-old and it breaks my heart. I also think, what about that 5-year-old US citizen?"

Correct. Subscribe to @flaminghydra.com to support and strengthen this model.

It's working!! Slowly, but it's working. Just by sharing the subscription money, publishing good work, and attracting enough subscribers, eventually it will add up to a whole salary for each member.
"We just want to do good work and each make a decent living and keep the lights on" is still a radical idea in comparison to how everything has always worked but it's not fantastical.

good reference point to rebut the whole "but the billionaires create jobs" line
I guess if you bankroll a bomb like "Melania," there isn't a lot left over to pay your people. Amazon, you've got to budget your bribes better.
Amazon just announced another round of 16,000 layoffs, months after it laid off 14,000 workers.

Reminder that Amazon CEO Andy Jassy raked in over $40M in 2024.

And Amazon is spending at least $75 million producing and promoting the Melania documentary.

The system is rigged.

I hope the freedom loving world continues to assist Ukraine to get back their country
The #1 reason that Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022 was to stop Ukraine from succeeding as a capitalist democracy with real freedom and prosperity for their people.

If Ukraine achieved what Poland achieved before them, then this would have led to revolution in Russia within a decade.

Found a book by the excellent contemporary poet Martin Espada today on a shelf at a school in Nola which was inscribed to someone at UMass Boston, my alma mater.

Spent an afternoon with him a few years ago, talking about a few things which are still relevant #poetry
