Mike Walz absolutely nailed it in his state of the state address:

“Let’s be real clear about something: If you say you love freedom, but you don’t believe in freedom for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom – it’s privilege.”

All euphemisms for death are a form of cowardice. It’s the one thing we all have in common. None of us can escape it. Might as well just use the right word for it.
Going to share a semi-regular gripe over euphemisms, this time “passed”. Saw a post talking about someone’s friend who passed, spent too long trying to work out what exactly they had passed until it clicked that they had died. Please, when I die, just say I died ok?

Once again I find myself asking, if he didn’t incite violent action on Jan 6th, why did he pardon those who took violent action on Jan 6th

Left the car at KwikFit. They’re going to order in two new rear tyres and fit them. They’ll call when it’s ready to be picked up.

I’m now crippled with the inability to do ANYTHING because WHAT IF THEY CALL????

Had a bit of an overwhelm/breakdown in August so I’ve been using up all my remaining paid holiday having Fridays off. It’s made such a huge difference that I’ve made it permanent. I’d rather be paid 1/5th less and be well

The thread about Argyle House; “preposterously large and a potential rival to the Castle rock”
Brutalist buildings are the Marmite of architecture - passionately loved or loathed - and one in Edinburgh was much in the news yesterday when it was announced that plans had been lodged for the demolition and replacement of Argyle House. But while other news sources make much click capital out of it having briefly appeared in some Netflix police show or another, here at Threadinburgh I prefer to get down to the nitty-gritty of the how, why and what of this much critiqued building. And just what it has to do with the Lyceum Theatre, Dalgety Bay and the Water of Leith Walkway...

If you don’t want folks to think you encouraged a coup; don’t pardon the convicted perpetrators perhaps.

There is no bottom to the banality of these people. Sure, they’re rich and glamorous and well-known, but they’re not interesting or unusual in any way whatsoever.

Boris Johnson says the idea that criticism of the BBC is being organised by the right is ‘complete and utter bollocks’, which makes me think there might be something in it.

So are we saying that, putting aside some clumsy editing, Trump *didn’t* try to incite the Jan 6th insurrection?

Wasn’t this already proven?

In what way has the Panorama programme changed anything?

A radio programme like the Shipping Forecast but it’s called Bin Day and it just reads out every single council in the country’s bin schedule

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

Bookselling friends. Sad news if you’ve not heard, the very wonderful @feexby.bsky.social has gone to the great Dr Who/The Archers mashup in the sky. Tories appoint a Tory to be DG of the BBC. Turns out he and his team can’t tell the truth.

The Farage starts bumping his gums about the end of the BBC and you have to wonder if there’s any degree of coordination.

I’m sure no one in Tufton Street is disappointed.

It’s OK @thegodpodcast.com. Eric Trump is here to save you.
Eric Trump, "We're saving Christianity. We're saving God. We're saving the family unit. We're saving the nation. DEI is out the window"

"People can coexist with one another without having top pick up arms and destroy one another, other than for incompetence and egotistical governments"

Just thinking about the 50th anniversary of both the Sex Pistols and Bohemian Rhapsody.

In 1975 when both were brand new we were celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Great Gatsby, Prokofiev’s Symphony no. 2, Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 1 and Louis Armstrong’s first solo recordings
