Vale Rob Hirst.

I grew up in the 90s and so didn’t really dig Midnight Oil during the era of alternative music. Then I saw them live at a festival gig and was blown away by how great they were.

There is no other drummer who could make that band sound like they did.

This thread is absolutely wild
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

Popped out to buy dinner ingredients in this crazy 40C+ weather, and could barely stand to be outside for 10 minutes.

I have absolutely no idea how firefighters manage to do their job on days like today - they absolutely deserve our thanks

This is an excellent thread if you’re anxious about SE Australia’s upcoming heatwave and don’t have access to / the financial ability to run your own air con

I’m self-sufficient nowadays, but as a teenager HATED the heat and had no way to escape it. I dreaded Summer.
For many years I lived in an apartment without aircon. My list of places I could go to escape the heat in metro Melbourne

There is far too much of this needless horror happening in the world right now
An unfathomable humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the besieged Sudanese city of el-Fasher. RSF forces are refusing to allow in food

The BBC has some of the only video

How does it feel to starve to death?

Sorry for a political post. But we are witnessing a deliberate genocide in Gaza, a place that has not had freedom of movement for people or food for 20 years.

And the leaders of the developed world are sitting around doing nothing about it.

It AMAZES me that most financial institutions in Aus don’t have any MFA security beyond text messages.

I have to use an auth app to log in to my Qantas account, but my bank, where all my money is stored? SMS is all you can use.

Even beyond the security issue, SMS is tough when overseas.
AustralianSuper has started adding MFA to accounts after it got hacked bigtime. It has chosen to use… SMS

Nice work Triple J for putting on the #hottest100 Australian songs.

BUT I think they erred by excluding anything before the 1970s? I reckon “Sorry” by the Easybeats is in the top 10 Aussie rock songs of all time.
