Can anyone help me get a look at Tony Scott's paintings? Especially his pre film work, but anything he painted at any time really is of help. It's becoming a vital part of my obsession with his work. #filmsky

I don't get sappy often, but I'm always rooting for things to work out better for Dix and Doll every time I watch THE ASPHALT JUNGLE

So excited to see @swierczy.bsky.social will be doing a @watchwithjen.bsky.social episode on Elmore Leonard Crime Flicks...

After westerns and then crime, I think maybe an Elmore Leonard TV movies episode is in order

Watched MR. MAJESTYK again, (my favorite Bronson on days that it isn't THE MECHANIC) and once again struck by how much milage Elmore Leonard got out of the captor/captive-cooperation motif perfectly expressed in the short story 3:10 TO YUMA which then sprouted into wild vines throughout his career

Hearing from friends about their various self-imposed projects for broadening their film knowledge and understanding is exciting and inspiring. The freedom some find in realizing their more sharply defined borders is matched by the enthusiasm others find in blowing them up...

Anyway, here's mine
Last couple of years I've made a point of watching a 'new to me' movie from every year, as far back as I can and have ended up getting into the 1910s both times... thought I'd make notes about some of the 2025 selections here...

Though we never had the opportunity to talk with David Lynch, his work is a personal favorite and the subject of many episodes of the show.

Been thinking about how solid Scott Adkins is in a dramatic turn in THE RIP. Well cast as Ben Affleck's brother and I didn't even feel punked by Joe Carnahan when he didn't kick anybody's ass.

CITY OF INDUSTRY remains way underappreciated. Harvey Keitel lends real weight to the center of this un-fussy post-Tarantino 90s crime flick and I don't think John Irvin gets his due for his body of crime and action pictures either.

Who's gonna reissue this one?

Every time I watch POINT BLANK I am struck by Angie Dickinson's performance. She just gives as good as she gets, a multilayered foil to Marvin's stony obtuseness. Really incredible presence.

Happy birthday, John Boorman. I'm watching POINT BLANK today
POINT BLANK - based on THE HUNTER by Richard Stark, directed by John Boorman

So exquisitely hard boiled and simultaneously outrageously arty, maybe THE spiritual progenitor of Jonathan Glazer's SEXY BEAST in that regard.
