I know we're all seeing 87 unhinged things per day, but "guys if our multi billion dollar product doesn't start being useful for something, literally anything, the people might not appreciate us wrecking the planet over it anymore" is a truly bananapants thing to say out loud
Delicious to me

"Otherwise, I don't think this makes much sense."

He is starting to get it… but him and his direction is too invested to be able to pull out and escape from the bubble and the aftermath of it popping!
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella warns that AI could lose public support unless it delivers tangible, real-world impact.

Starfleet Academy episode 2 was much improved over episode 1 IMO.

I like that it was grounded on Earth and not ship in space - the awe of coming out of the academy and being assigned to your first non simulator Starship - may be lost off they are out there for real too often.

I quite enjoyed the Stranger Things finale.

The only thing that threw me slightly was recognising music from another movie, one whose soundtrack is a particular favourite of mine.

UK games journalist Christopher Dring has confirmed this evening that the Nintendo Switch 2 has now outsold the Wii U, the SEGA Dreamcast and the PlayStation Vita in the biggest games market in Europe, the United Kingdom. This is an impressive achievement given the platform was only released in June. Thanks to Greatsong1 for sending in the news tip!

You don't know what day it is.
You're eating countless meals a day with lots of snacks in between.
You're napping throughout they day.
Either it's the time between Christmas and New Year or you're a cat.

Past years we’ve had early Christmas gatherings, before I went home with family. I’ll be seeing them tomorrow for Boxing Day.

When Democrats in the US sort themselves out, and finally win back power. Will the Bill that basically undoes all the shit Trump has done, be bigger and more beautiful, than Trumps "one big beautiful" bill?

Non spoiler thoughts on The War Between The Land and The Sea...

This I think was a better story to tell as a multi-part story than Flux was.

And a good example of how to do it compared to the old 4 part serials of Doctor Who past.

No filler, or false cliff-hangers each episode

The key to having a good story, is to have an ending.

The AI bubble has yet to burst, so we wont get the comeuppance that is required for those who dragged us all into this folly.
@shwood.com's podcast is storytelling mastery. Nevertheless, I can't help the suspicion that, were we sufficiently omniscient, we'd realize we're living in the middle of the world's greatest con.
