Federal agents arresting a journalist in Chicago, in direct violation of a federal restraining order that went out yesterday.

A WGN-TV video editor and producer was roughly detained by two Border Patrol agents on Friday morning during a highly visible rush hour enforcement action in Lincoln Square.

A Dist Court judge issued a TRO ordering the fed fence in Broadview removed.

Broadview mayor says court spoke “clearly and unequivocally” but that “it remains to be seen if ICE will respect the judge's order and dismantle this hazard immediately, or if they will continue their pattern of defiance."

U.S. District Judge April Perry says it comes down to a "credibility determination."

"I simply cannot credit [the Trump administration's] declarations to the extent they contradict state and local law enforcement. … DHS' perception of events are simply unreliable."

Perry says the order will say defendants are "temporarily enjoined from ordering the federalization and deployment of the National Guard of the United States within Illinois."

As y'all have probably heard, there has been a lot of ICE activity on the North Side of Chicago today. At least four people were kidnapped by ICE in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Folks mobilized throughout the day to do ICE Watch and Rapid Response work.

Perry: "Chicago's history of strained policing community relations is extremely well documented, but also fairly nuanced. It's something I think state and local authorities understand extremely well, and it can be hard for federal authorities, and certainly those from Texas, to appreciate."

This is what they're doing to U.S. citizens right now.

"I see no credible evidence there is a danger of rebellion in the state of Illinois," Perry adds.

Perry cites the TRO won against federal agents in Judge Sara Ellis' courtroom this week for 1A and 4A violations, as well as criminal cases recently dismissed against protestors.

These cases "cast significant doubt" on DHS' account of what is happening in Chicago, Perry says.

Acknowledging that vandalism and attacks on ICE agents have likely occurred, Perry still finds that DHS' version of events is "simply unreliable."

Perry asks the govt's counsel if they would potentially seek to send other state's national guard to Illinois if she used narrower language for the restraining order.

Counsel says yes.

"Ok, then I'm gonna go with the broader language," Perry says.
