We don't need a 4th territory, but we can look after the extended family for a while. Get it together, Americans.

“We’re going to teach the truth,” Prof. Leonard Bright said. “We don’t know what the consequences of that may be...But we do know that if we were to censor the truth…that’s going to damage our society. That’s going to damage our students.” 👏👏

The firing happened over two years after Texas A&M stressed its support for academic freedom and amid a changing higher education landscape.

My school district drove me out of my position for being a whistleblower. I’m 2020, they sent 5 people to remove me from my classroom. When I called them cowards for following the orders of local tyrants, the liberals rolled their eyes. And now look where we are…

what to do when a "let's all respectfully debate the intelligence of Black people" guy pops around is itself a political intelligence test and it's wild how poorly allegedly Serious Thinkers score on it
socio-steve.bsky.social
Maybe but then "let's all respectfully debate the intelligence of black people" was/is a part of that. And if he doesn't understand that then he has an enormous blind spot and I hope someone close to him sits him down for a talk.

Consider your site content that is routinely updated, like weather maps, Covid charts, or stock graphs. Screen reader users encounter maps and charts where the image has been updated but the alt text hasn't. This can lead to confusion. Always update alt text when updating images.

Look I think valuing human life is a phenomenal, wonderful, fantastic idea and also that’s why everyone opposes the genocide in Palestine and the colonial violence in Haiti and Sudan and Congo right?

Oh oh you didn’t mean those lives I see

This man will not be fired for calling for the murder of American citizens, yet multiple journalists/reporters/teachers lost their job for accurately reporting things Charlie Kirk actually said and stood for.

But it’s the “violent left” that’s the problem

"Bad Indians don’t play along when you expect them to think and act in a certain way... Bad Indians, when given the chance, offer revelatory ways of thinking about a world you assumed you understood."

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

A good reason for faculty to join the @aaup.org , which fights for academic freedom and works to defend against attacks like this.

100%. I'm sure the inboxes of every dep't chair, dean, and university president are currently full of complaints from students who dislike aspects of their classes. Those coming from right-wing students are coupled with threats that the next stop is DOJ.
jztidecat.bsky.social
A reminder that the DOJ wants to investigate the issue. The DOJ wasting time investigating our classrooms is an open invitation for any frivolous complaint from any student, anywhere with too much time on their hands.

Campus Reform tried to get me fired from being a *postdoc in physics* in 2015 because I said Thomas Jefferson was a rapist

When Campus Reform and Turning point came after professors and created the professor watchlist, administrators didn't pay attention..Now they are being fired and attacked. Maybe institutions should have done more to protect academic freedom....

A lot to say about this, but one thing is that the Professor in question was a lecturer, and thus did not have tenure.

The destruction of academic freedom is inextricably linked to the loss of worker protection in the university.

Update on the Texas A&M professor / cell phone video situation: the professor has been fired by the A&M president

This afternoon, following full consideration of the facts related to this situation, I directed the Provost to terminate the professor involved, effective immediately. Please understand that these decisions were mine alone and were not
made lightly. While I cannot provide all the details at this time, I will share the following facts.

Certainly looks like we scared the President away from Chicago. Fighting like hell works.
“They are a progressive city, and they don’t want the president’s help. That’s on them. It’s horrific that they don’t want President Trump’s help.”

“Chicago should be begging Donald Trump for help to keep Chicago safe,” Bondi added. “Yet, they aren’t so we’re going to go into a city who wants us there.”
