Colorado's Federalist Society chapter is hosting John Eastman next week, who was the legal achitect of the plan to reject the 2020 election results and, so far as I know, isn't allowed to practice in Colorado's federal court (www.coloradopolitics.com/2024/04/29/f...). The event is closed to media.

This is an important documentary that underscores the stakes for all of us -- not just journalists, but the communities that they cover. This is worth your time.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Seven years ago today, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi was tortured, murdered and then dismembered. And any so-called comedian who can't stand up tonight in Riyadh and do ten minutes on that kind of hijinx and horseplay just isn't worth the Saudi blood money he's being paid.

CNBC: "Very disappointing. It's a weak number. This is private sector jobs for September. The total comes in -32,000. And that was a surprise because economists were looking for an increase of 51,000. Also, the revision was not good. August now showing -3,000 compared to the initial read of 54,000"

"Culver might have tried micromanaging this obituary from the afterlife were it not for the fact that she didn’t believe in an afterlife. She winced at the verb 'passed on' instead of 'died.' Once it’s over, it’s over, she insisted"
Longtime Denver Post reporter Virginia Culver dies
For 44 years, Culver covered religion and reported obituaries yet remained intensely private on the matter of her own mortality.
