It's a start and abandon online shopping carts kind of day.
Do people really not understand the mass comms aspect of social media (aside from, um, the Atlantic)? Like, how is that possible in 2025?

Mike Johnson’s position is young pregnant American women shouldn’t have to wait before being turned away to die in the parking lot from an ectopic pregnancy the hospital is afraid to treat
Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."
"And the rest of us, whether we’re elected officials or ordinary citizens, should do everything we can to let our fellow Americans in uniform know that if they risk their careers and even their freedom to protect the Constitution, we will stand with them."

But how do we do this?

This really needs to be the strategy everywhere. Cartoon suitup to defeat authoritarianism.

Who doesn't love a fresh Target bag to cuddle into? #Caturday
Publisher here. It is, indeed, impossible. Algorithms have been tweaked to a pointless point, but outside of sandwich boards on commuter routes what choices are there?
I wish we could have decided to decry authoritarianism instead of fascism. But, I guess it's just harder to spell and not as sexy to rail against.
Local fire marshal for fire code violations. Local health department for health code. It's a very broken up jurisdictional system.
People can say what they will about Reagan, but at least he had class and was on the whole honorable.
As someone who writes emergency management plans - this is a very bad idea. Ever had to dump an entire building due to an emergency evacuation from a gas leak? Now, try having everyone be barefoot.
I was once brought in to fix things after this exact scenario.
Nightmare.

oh my god lol -- Trump calls for UN workers to be arrested because his escalator didn't work yesterday
I can't think of anyone I'd rather be left behind in the rapture with besides you.

Dutch late night TV has its take
But is he taking your advice?
I agree - speech has moral consequences. But those consequences should not be death & to celebrate death as the ultimate outcome is troublesome.
Don't get me wrong, I found him detestable & his views abhorrent.
I very much wish that the inner hate that drove those views is judged, but not by me.
This is a moment to rise to better angels.
It's an act of humanity to pray for someone you detest. Both your own humanity and theirs. It's not complicated. "Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that the soul of Charlie Kirk finds peace as he journeys onward and I pray for his wife and children that their community uplifts & sustains them. Amen."
In a civil society, speaking your mind should not equate to a death sentence even if your views are abhorrent or troubling. In the immortal words of the great detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch, either everyone matters or no one matters.
I'm very sorry for the wife and children of Charlie Kirk.
Try the Evernote subreddit. Bending Spoons monitors it and sometimes will help with user problems.
Indeed. I'm ruminating on an essay about the man I bought it from and met at a Marathon gas station surrounded by trees and nothingness, his beat down truck and lopsided trailer the only thing in the lot.
I just finished a four hour Uhaul round trip out into the country to buy 511 sqft of 130 year old heartpine shiplap. It's going to become the ceiling of the family room in my circa 1900 house. The wood is so beautiful and now it has renewed purpose.
I spend an inordinate amount of time negotiating with southern good old boys who go by two first names (Harry Dean, Bobby Lee) who have a pile of reclaimed heart pine 3 inch reveal tongue and goove boards they seem loathe to part with even though they're listed on FB Marketplace. I mean HOURS!
