Not quite the same, but three of our very best dogs picked us by basically collapsing in front of us as starved strays. Literally out of no where. One was running down our street & suddenly turned into our driveway. Another was a puppy who came to our window, the third found us in very rural Spain.

It’s important to note from a military perspective that if a subordinate is about to give an unlawful order & his senior knows about it, it’s also a requirement for the senior official to stop him from executing it. And then counsel/discipline him.

"And make us a permanent minority" is speaking volumes. Johnson does not consider all Americans to be "us" he only includes himself as an us when it's about white people.

I spend an inordinate amount of time negotiating with southern good old boys who go by two first names (Harry Dean, Bobby Lee) who have a pile of reclaimed heart pine 3 inch reveal tongue and goove boards they seem loathe to part with even though they're listed on FB Marketplace. I mean HOURS!

I was sent to Paris as a crisis manager the day after the Bataclan attack. Paris was not itself with heavily armed soldiers everywhere. The atmosphere was tense, heavy, and oppressive even tho people were grateful for the pretense of safety.
Soldiers everywhere is not conducive to freedom.
