Day 2! I remember the day Acclaim's PR-rep visited the press-office I was working in back then and proudly showed the EU-boxart for Super Bust-A-Move. The reception was rather... muted. I think the whole "baby with sunglasses" was a thing back then? Well, the JP-cover certainly looked different.

From today until Christmas, I will share a piece of weird/wonky/interesting western boxart. There will be bad ones, but I want to avoid punching down. First: Eternal Eyes, a late PlayStation B- to C-tier RPG. The PAL-version took the title literally, while Kohime Ohse provided the original motive.

A screenshot from Spyro the Dragon. A purple dragon stands in front of a crystallised dragon. This is where the game starts, in the home level of the Artisan World. It's a very safe place to learn the controls. This game was a buy with Christmas money, I want to say at a Woolworths in either Birkenhead or Wallasey. I also think at some point I won a Spyro T-shirt. Out of all the 3D platformers that started turning up in the 90s Spyro has aged the best between its presentation and scope of its explorable areas.

She does it every year. In other news I've been quite enjoying Street Racer again. Just a really solid racing game. I've been playing the SNES one which isn't as good as the PlayStation version IMO. I want to get around to playing the Saturn version because that looks really cool.

So, I've had a replay of Street Racer (SNES version via Evercade), and I still think it's better than Mario Kart (SNES). It may lack the same kind of power up system or the world's most marketable characters, but I prefer the way it handles, I prefer the look, and honestly it feels more frenetic.
