The year was 2001, we were 15 years old and played roleplaying games until early morning most nights of the week. We played in a shed. It was freezing in the winter and the car heater struggled until the cord melted. The ceiling was covered in dead PCs’ sheets. This is where our dreams were made.

In the 80s, Sweden conducted an experiment where they would raise one twin on system matters, and the other on the opposite.

"System doesn't matter" is a shibboleth. You don't often hear it from Shadowrun or GURPS or Kids On Bikes players, for some reason, only dungeon fantasy inspires that cry, whether smooth or crunchy. It's a defense of tradition, not an intellectual argument seeking honest debate.
