You can argue that the BSAA stuff detracts from the horror elements and turns it into too much of an action movie beat, which is just more evidence that you could get a lot of mileage out of "well okay we aren't doing horror with it then, we'll do something else"

Resident evil gets a lot of flack for the 4-6 era (deservedly so) but the idea that a corporation just kills an entire city and zombies get clawed with suicide bombers and nukes as just something you shrug and deal with is kind of amazing

Yeah but by 6, Umbrella was already done and dusted for all practical purposes. Basically, it went "Racoon City has to get completely destroyed to contain the BOW outbreak" in RE2, and then the start of RE4 has Leon narrate that Umbrella went under due to being unable to sweep that under the rug
