no wonder the daicon/gainax guys were so strongly influenced by the end result
iirc from researching the production, in addition to the design itself... they kept inadvertently melting / exploding various bits in an effort to get various live fire aspects of the props to work, and had to keep extra suit teeth on hand b/c they were literally burning through them. wonderful.
