and that bit about being able to organize action at all is not a small one. a union provides a way to organize and communicate across many different people, to schedule things and get everyone on the same page, instead of essentially throwing messages into the wind and hoping it becomes consensus.

without being able to withhold labor to any significant degree, the avenues regular people have to affect politics for any cause - not just labor - are often slim, tending towards the hyper individualist or just voting and hoping reps don't backstab you or declare your ballot initiative void.

looking into the article, important part to it is this was initiated by italian unions, making it possible to organize such action at all. which reinforces for what and why such union restrictions exist in america. keeping labor down doesn't just generate wealth, it also suppresses other movements.

Being in voice-over as long as I was, actors talk. It's highly unlikely this dude's beliefs were entirely unknown, certainly to some of the similarly minded actors who have gravitated toward him and tried to mooch off his numbers.
