if you’ve ever watched the apprentice, that’s the world without arts or humanities degrees

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

Men in balaclavas set fire to a mosque in East Sussex last night. It's only appearing on the BBC's local coverage, rather than its main national headlines, despite coming just a week after the (also under-reported) firebombing of an asylum hotel in London last week

First movie that I can remember seeing in a cinema (theater for us Brits...) ... 'Pete's Dragon'. As far as I can remember, the school took us.

Age yourself with a movie you saw in a theater as a kid.

Couldn't agree more. A B/w reprint of this story (or half of it) in a UK title a few years later had me hooked for life. By the way as a Brit it took me a minute to work out what '15 and 20 centers' meant and I very nearly posted asking you to clarify... Then it fell into place!

The love we have for our football clubs, eh? Sometimes you have to go inside their apps for the first time in a while for something to do with tickets. And what you see sets your heart beating so strongly that it reminds you of why you loved that club in the first place #MUFC
Screenshot from the Manchester United club app. It shows a tie in product with golf under the headline 'product of the week'

There is huge market share for the Lib Dem’s to run with the motto of “enough of this American nonsense let’s be sensible British people
Again” and not sure anyone’s weird arguments that specific voters should be chased is needed at all.

Before I run off to eat lunch a few reflections on the @claremontcomms.bsky.social event today exploring how we create a society that values care. It's positive to see focus on the need to shift how we talk about care - in all it's forms to one that is universal. 🧵

Well, Disney won't turn down kids who want to see these films clearly, hence the limited age classification (unlike some of the TV material). But comics are not really for kids anymore (Big 2 superheroes anyway), so it isn't that surprising that movies would follow suit

Few thoughts from me on the newly launched report from @centreforcare.bsky.social

I (Ruth) have just attended the launch of @centreforcare.bsky.social launch of their research into adult social care worker organising. A really interesting area, especially as Care Full is exploring solidarity in and across care. Thoughts. 🧵
