Reasonable to ask whether Americans just got played by Cubans and Venezuelans who will now stay in power in Caracas and who understood that after 24 or so hours of gringo euphoria this will be a disaster for the US.

Some people run for Congress because they want to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

Others run because investing and trading stocks in the companies Congress regulates and takes donations from can make a positive impact on their wealth.

Ban Congressional stock trading.

Yeah, it has long been the case that adult-oriented businesses have to be careful or risk the wrath of everyone from prosecutors to payment-processing companies, but "prominent social media company owned by world's richest person swiftly became world's largest CSAM producer" produces no reaction.
Elon Musk chatbot repeatedly making CSAM on demand should be one of the single biggest stories right now and it's effectively a collective shrug instead

Comically over-lawyered and under-inspiring. Just resign, man. Take a lobbying job or something.

This is why Democrats look to a mayor like Zohran Mamdani for national leadership.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

Happening now: several hundred people are pouring into Chicago's downtown Federal Plaza.

It's 25 degrees outside.

Organizers are leading the crowd in a chant of, "no boots on the ground, no bombs in the air!"

Two protesters hold a large banner reading, "no war for Venezuela oil."

This is insane.
If your member of Congress doesn’t support impeachment, call/email and ask why they are giving away their Constitutional power
News: Gang of Eight in Congress were only notified about Trump's Venezuela operation after it began, source familiar tells me. That means the heads of the Intelligence Committees in Senate and House were *not* consulted. Just crazy.

This could have big repercussions for mail voting in 2026: USPS no longer guarantees when it’ll postmark mail.

More important than ever to be careful about how you vote, including voting as early as possible if you want to do so by mail. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
Thousands of mail-in ballots could be discounted under new post office policy
The Postal Service is no longer guaranteeing when it will postmark mail, which could jeopardize some ballots that arrive after Election Day.

I would think Maduro has head of state immunity from prosecution under international law (with exception for grave human rights violations, see, e.g., Pinochet)
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Stephen Miller wants you to think he's all-powerful, so that he can become so. Important perspective.

One point I would add is that the SCOTUS conservatives (Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Barrett) have mostly been playing shadow docket games. They love unitary executive, but are seeing its problems.
Trump and Stephen Miller are actually failing in crucial ways. Deportations are lagging behind their goals, courts are mostly functioning, and their fascist, ethnonationalist cruelties have unleashed a countermobilization of unexpected scope and power.
