White Cyclamen by Anne Estelle Rice (1887-1959). Rice was a Philadelphia artist who ended up in Paris with my grandmother Sarah Shreve, in 1905. She went on to have a distinguished career as a fauvist and beyond in Paris and London. This oil and watercolor on paper is for auction: Bonhams, London.

Instead of folding like cheap chairs, Democrats should have forced the GOP to end the shutdown by killing the filibuster. Holding onto the archaic, antidemocratic tradition doesn't help them stop fascism, it makes them complicit to it.
