Look, if you want to know what Americans could do that Germans at the end of Weimar didn't do, opposing ICE everywhere they're operating and emphasizing how much the majority doesn't want them to do what they're doing is a great example of doing better.

I'd just add I don't think the crisis is at all over, because Trump never sticks to agreements just because they're conventionally considered binding. The crisis will only be over when his regime is dislodged from Washington, if then.
If Europe found a way for him to save face and move on, great. But Carney's speech was still spoken and was still true. The bell has rung.

Good words from my new governor. Let’s keep it up.
Sherrill: "We see a POTUS illegally usurping power. He's unconstitutionally enacted a tariff regime to make billions for himself while everyone else's costs go higher. Here we demand people in public service actually serve the public instead of extorting money to benefit themselves & their cronies."

Nederlandse politiek, ik heb er eigenlijk geen energie voor. Maar we hebben het steeds over hoe we op Trump moeten reageren; het is hier net zo bonkers hoor

Nobody could have predicted this.
By analyzing $4 trillion of shipments between January 2024 and November 2025, researchers found that foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.

It's a shame more white men over 35 aren't yelling at them then. Get to work.
ICE seems to get completely flummoxed when they’re being yelled at by white men over 35. They kind of put their heads down and shuffle their feet. It’s like their kryptonite.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

A change from the Asian flavor profiles I have been pursuing lately: boneless skinless chicken thighs, seasoned with cumin, coriander, and smoked paprika. Kale seasoned with za’atar, sumac, and lots of fresh garlic. A wee splash of lemon juice to perk everything up.

X is the megaphone of 21st century fascism and authoritariansim. It has poisoned public debate. It is a tool for bullying, abuse, and assault. X needs to disappear from our discourse. When people and institutions post there, it gives X credibility. It keeps it relevant. It's time to stop.

This post is clarifying. It really is a top-down, very stupid civil war.
Its so crazy that America is fighting a ground war with itself. Just full on troop movements happening between cities, reinforcements being shuffled around the midwest, all in an attempt to plunge a dagger into our own leg.
ICE totaled this car, abducted a woman, and then left it in the middle of Snelling Avenue, one of the busiest streets in the Twin Cities.

This isn’t law and order, this state sanctioned terrorism. It’s fucking disgusting.

People look at what’s happening in America and tell themselves, “it’s not that bad here.” Meanwhile fascism advances right into the open.
Far-right intimidation of "pro-refugee" mayors in the Netherlands has been a mayor problem throughout this century - with major peak around so-called "refugee crisis" - but continues to be minimized and treated as "isolated incidents" by much of Dutch media and politics.
