Trump does not represent the “will of the people” – a stable majority of Americans, including about two thirds of those who call themselves independents, reject core tenets of the Trumpist agenda. It is the Republican Party that is losing touch with the mainstream of American society.

I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

In diesem Falle könne man die FDP weiter unterstützen, Schäffler könne Bundeskanzler werden … Falls nicht, müsse eine neue Partei aufgebaut werden. Dieses Vorgehen wurde von Schachtschneider explizit unterstützt. Frau von Storch sagte für eine solche Partei ebenfalls Unterstützung zu, betonte jedoch, dass für die Zivile Koalition die Organisierung des Bürgerprotestes Vorrang habe. Unglaublich. @clarabuenger.bsky.social hat eben im Bundestag angesichts der Dobrindt'schen Weigerung, 2000 Afghan*innen aufzunehmen, denen Deutschland schon Schutz versprochen hatte, von der Banalität des Bösen gesprochen.

Und bekommt von Klöckner mit Verweis auf Hannah Arendt deswegen eine Rüge.

Für mich sind Bürgerräte eine Weiterentwicklung öffentlucher Umfragen. Öffentliche Umfragen geben einen Eindruck davon, was Bürger*innen auf Basis ihres jeweiligen Wissensstandes meinen. Da ist Populismus mit eingepreist, und das Ergebnis ist eine Melange von Überzeugungen und Kenntnisständen. 1/

Interesting: this study suggests that white support for anti-democratic policies targeting immigrants increases in places with increased Black pops but not increased Latine pops. Meaning at core what is activated in anti-democratic ideology is anti-Black racism even when the targets are not Black.

The vast majority of the people being taken are hardworking, law-abiding members of our communities. They are just trying to provide for their families and contribute to America.

It is amazing actually what good pedagogy can accomplish by guiding students, incl. in their very first year of university, through the substantive work of facing serious course materials head-on with discipline-specific approaches. Relying on synthetic text critique is really not it.

I will add the following: our students lack the research skills required to audit an LLM essay for errors. They don’t arrive on campus with these skills; we teach it to them over four long years. So throwing freshmen in the deep end and saying “swim your way to a shore of rectitude” is folly.
