Here's @davidjroth.bsky.social on ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. Hits me right where I live, which feels like nowhere at this point. Must-read and all that. I hope he found time to watch SCARECROW during that long winter.

TRON: ARES would've been a blockbuster if they let Lee Greenwood do the score.

Vaguely remembering the time some online loser tore into Wampler for goofing on Rob Zombie's "Dragula." And Scott was like "How could you care about something this shitty?" This happened, no?

He kills in GANGS OF NEW YORK, and, uh, MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDERETTE? I do not know this podcast, but I hope they all get scabies.

I mean, he could always apologize and donate the money to a battered women's shelter.

Bill Burr's whole appeal was built around no-BS observations. Now that we know he's full of shit when a seven-figure check clears (from one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet), he has zero value as a comic. His career should be over, but I see a booking at Trump's ballroom in his future.

Guiteau. So excited I can't spell the name of the standout character from Stephen Sondheim's ASSASSINS correctly!

Guys, we're getting a James A. Garfield/Charles Giteau miniseries from Netflix next month that stars Michael Shannon, Matthew Macfadyen, Nick Offerman (as Chester A. Arthur!) and Betty Gilpin. My depression lessened for a second as I typed this. That's a big win in 2025!
Matthew Macfadyen Has Found The Perfect Role (And Perfect Real-Life Weirdo) To Follow Succession - SlashFilm
Succession's Matthew Macfadyen is following up his run on the HBO series by playing another (this time real-life) weirdo loser in Netflix's Death by Lightning.

(This is in reference to the THR's Costner article from yesterday, but the author of that piece is hardly the only offender.)

Schiff: "If a president in secret can put names on a list and kill them, then there is no war power still retained by Congress, and there's no check on an executive who may drag us into another war."

Feels like congressional Democrats have abruptly changed their tune. I do not find this encouraging because they probably know something awful is coming, and they want to be on the right side before everything goes haywire.

No. Merv Griffin didn't do puzzles, and you knew that when you became his neighbor. Merv was only afraid of an ignoble death.

Merv Griffin's estate was next door, and I couldn't have that on my conscience.

As a baseball fan and non-fascist, there is nothing better than watching a Trump-supporting bigot like Clayton Kershaw eat a mound of shit.

Editors rule. Love them. Save for the heavy-handed dickhead who recklessly revised a piece that left me sparring with a fact-checker over a falsehood I did not write. We worked it out, but the editor never apologized and is still making bank at a legacy media outlet today. I hope his organs liquify.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.
