“The Globe identified more than 60 civil proceedings in which Mr. Mraiche or his companies were participants.”

SIXTY civil cases, a gambling addiction, and cozy ties with government.

Gumshoe Carrie Tait reports on a very sticky web, in which the UCP seems irrevocably ensnared.

This is what Danielle Smith is priming Alberta for. This. And, incredibly, she's probably going to use our driver's licenses as the portal. But, Canadians have no idea how hard a for profit healthcare system sucks. So much out of pocket even when you have insurance. #ableg #cdnpoli
My health insurance premiums will more than double in January. I pay a little less than $500/month for my current silver plan.

I just reapplied and my new premium will be $1062/month.

And don’t forget: I still have a co-pay for every visit and pay for prescriptions.

2/ It’s time for our government to have the moral courage to do what is right: no more arms sales to Israel, no more diplomatic and economic support, no more complicity with occupation and genocide.

We will never stop demanding justice until Palestine is free.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith liberally uses "woke" as a slur. Multiple times, not just once. Now calls "DEI a destructive mandate". Wow. Just wow.

I'm everything hated by the current Alberta government in one human.

I'm going to sit with that all day. Then I'm gonna pray for my personal safety.

The USA doesn't have universal healthcare Because the people who profit from keeping it broken also fund the politicians who refuse to fix it.
The U.S. doesn’t have a healthcare system ಠ_ಠ it has a healthcare market. And markets protect profit, not lives. 🗽💙🌱

Scoff about the driver's license as the gateway to two tier healthcare for Albertans if you like, but think about it. The registries already have the infrastructure. It would be easy for them to take the payments. They will call it a health premium. Jim Prentice would side eye if he were still here.

Alberta “healthcare.”

Good thread.
2/8 The logic is seductive: let those who can pay exit the public queue, shortening it for everyone else.

But this fails the laws of physics.

👉 The number of doctor hours is finite. You aren't adding capacity; you're just reshuffling the line based on a wallet biopsy rather than medical need. 👈
