As I mentioned at my talk today for the @stanfordaaup.bsky.social teach-in, over 4,500 federal grants have been terminated at over 600 institutions. Those grants are valued at~$8B, with ~$3.5B being stolen from universities when those grants were terminated. The type of grants terminated varies +

LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR: DOJ DID ALL OF THIS TO TRY AND STOP PAYMENTS TO PEOPLE UNDER AN ANTI-HUNGER PROGRAM.
Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.

Not only are our family's standard groceries more expensive, we are buying additional items at inflated costs for community pantries and making cash donations to food banks. Those celebrating the economy and passing these ridiculous claims off as valid are telling on themselves.
Trump: "I just saw that Walmart came out last night that Thanksgiving this year will cost 25% less than last year ... that's emblematic of the rest of prices." (They shrunk the turkey and made the meal smaller.)

Wow
Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

I'm not a New Yorker. I've visited NYC a dozen times. I could be way off, but New Yorkers don't strike me as the type to shiver from "do this or things could get really bad for you" threats. How is this real life in 2025?
This isn't a closing election argument, it's Vidkun Quisling explaining why surrender is better than resistance.

Food banks will be able to do more with a cash donation than a donation of food. They can buy in bulk and get way more stuff than you can for the same dollar amount.

But if you have an emotional need to give something physical, a few things to consider:

I need to start wearing my reading glasses in stores. It turns this ISN'T tinted lip balm. I made an impulse purchase in a checkout line. Berry & Bright and Balsam Balm (which actually says bum) looked like festive chapstick to my 54 y.o. eyeballs.

Yes. Donate cash to food banks. If you have non-perishables, find micro pantries near you to stock. It's common to find them near libraries, churches, schools, and community centers.
Reminder to everyone donating to food banks in light of the Republicans starving SNAP: It is far more cost effective to donate directly to food banks than to buy food and give it to them. They can buy in bulk and have existing relationships with sellers, so your few bucks go way further that way

The “logic” that the government can assassinate random people from Colombia that it suspects of selling drugs with no process because they are at “war” means these people believe they can kill anyone they want whenever they want.

I wonder what share of Trump voters have convinced themselves that if they had been born earlier they would—of course!—opposed slavery, supported women’s suffrage, or backed the Civil Rights movement.

I’m betting it’s an alarmingly high share.

AI Trump is wearing a crown while he dumps shit on protesters. He's such a pathetic little man.

The only comfort I get from this horror show is the realization that a bunch of haters are about to realize just how much better their lives were with the "Democrat-oriented" people and organizations Trump is targeting in their lives.
Q: How many layoffs have you authorized?

TRUMP: It'll be a lot. And it'll be Democrat-oriented.
