lmfao get wrecked
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

The StarTribune live blog is paywall free:
- The man shot by federal agents this morning has died
- Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building.
- ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

Emphasizing that ICE is deliberately arresting people who are in the asylum process precisely because they are easy pickings; after all, they're complying with the government!

Amazingly, it's likely legal; but cruel, unjust, and very counterproductive by discouraging compliance!
The parents of a 7 year old, all of whom are in the process of applying for asylum, took their daughter to the ER when her nose wouldn't stop bleeding. ICE picked them up near the hospital and they are now in detention in Texas, presumably awaiting deportation. www.oregonlive.com/portland/202...

this is not a spokesperson, this is the head of ERO. if they're sending him out there to make statements they're rattled by the reaction
ICE spokesperson Marcos Charles: "My officers stayed with the child. They cared for him. Took him to get something to eat from a drive-thru restaurant and spent hours ensuring he was taken care of. Again, my officers did that, not his father ... his family refused to open the door and take him back"

rare post that's both wrong and wouldn't be making a good point if it were true
ICE is not law enforcement, they are not police, they are paramilitary. Opposing ICE is not against law enforcement, it is not against police, it is against paramilitary.

The only way out of all this is comprehensive immigration reform, which means the only way out of this is eliminating the Senate filibuster. End of discussion. When you hear the word filibuster, think about Renee Good. About kids being detained. Don't let Senators bullshit you about this anymore.

perpetual reminder that US immigration law is unbearably cruel and that things like shipping five year olds to jail in Texas are often legal. abolishing ICE and CBP is not enough - the laws they enforce need to be rewritten

1/2 I obviously support ending qualified immunity, but that's not the barrier to holding federal officers—including ICE agents—civilly liable. For federal officers, the issue is the lack of statutory cause of action, combined with the Supreme Court's gutting of Bivens claims.
End Qualified Immunity now. Hold the ICE officer who blocked aid accountable for Renee Good’s death.

you can't "more bodycams, better training" your way out of a cabinet department that decides what it wants to do and then makes up a justification for it. DHS is rotten the whole way through and it always has been

BORTAC is CBP's version of a SWAT team, meant to handle high stakes, high threat situations like counterterrorism and hostage operations. Instead they're shooting propaganda videos at a Minneapolis gas station
I am not a social media influencer I am just a regular Minneapolis dad trying to do a kid pickup this morning and get some gas. What do I find but that one guy and a bunch of bortech (whatever that is) blocking the station for a glamour shot. I stood right where I wanted to stand this is my town.

good and more Dems need to say it clearly AND ALSO we need politicians questioning the core premise of a law enforcement agency "enforcing some kind of immigration law"
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

when the Great Midwestern War breaks out I will be enlisting under General Stancil
No. The problem has been very specifically one thing: if they move in any kind of detectable force, they pick up a tail within minutes, and then it often grows and grows until you have a dozen cars following two ICE SUVs, making so much noise that the entire neighborhood knows they’re there.
Do you think the general strike announcement spooked their higher ups at all?
