It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...
Thanks! Maybe the second printing, then. 👀

"[T]he difference in the quality of course discussion where 70% of the students have done 50% of the readings and one in which 20% have done 10% of the readings is obvious in the same way that a cold Coke tastes different than lukewarm spit. The former is no Chablis, but it is more palatable."

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

Without a legal right to strike or interest arbitration on economic issues, public employees in Maine have minimal legal leverage to force employers to reach deals. I’m grateful to practice in IL.
I can only imagine the reactions if public employees in ME took a leaf out of some MA teachers’ books.
