From the Days of Mana specials in Nintendo Power: Katsuya Terada's visions of the world of The Secret of Mana, which, like their illustrations for Link's Awakening, lend the game a darker, more mature vibe akin to the artwork you might see in a Wizardry game.

Yesterday one of my twentysomething coworkers asked me what color my hair was before it started graying and I guess I’ll just get the chisel and start working up a gravestone now

Kicking off with some birthday greets to the Super Famicom! Released in Japan on this day 35 years ago.

Fearing Yakuza were going to hijack shipments of Super Fami's, Nintendo trucked them in secret to stores: Operation Midnight Shipping.

What are some of your favourite SF or SNES games, peeps?

Rebecca Heineman's last message was for people to look up her departed partner, Jennell Jaquays.

Jaquays was so influent to tabletop RPGs that "Jaquaysing" became a verb for designing complex, non-linear dungeons.

@nickoten.bsky.social wrote a great article on her:

(This is a slightly cleaned up version of my two Bluesky threads on Jennell Jaquays, preserved in a hopefully easier to read format. Thank Amanda P for reminding me that having these things stored …

Some of these contain advice, some of which has become commonplace: “it is an undoubted truth, that the less one has to do, the less time one finds to do it in”, “Whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing well”, “never put off till to-morrow, what you can do to-day”

1) More women should write sword & sorcery.

Please, for the love of Crom, save us from the men's rights douchebros that try to turn hardboiled fantasy into some testosterone-driven epic of macho bullshit.

I just released my "Brief Guide to Writing Short Fiction." It's a solid guide to writing short stories and more; and has a special focus on Sword and Sorcery stories.

It costs $10, which, as a set of instructions to write stories you can sell, is rather inexpensive.

Like and share. That helps!

Everybody has to be friends with Rockman
I have been playing D&D and this is my character Rockman.

Rockman was unearthed by some dwarves and gently pushed toward the questing board and told to complete them all.

My bf Luke also modelled and printed a full Rockman mini figure! I haven't painted him yet but will post when I do.
