No contrition for this despicable behaviour. And crucially, no honesty, even now. It's an old and familiar truth, but it bears repeating: bullies are cowards.

Development money is the means by which FIFA's senior leadership controls its less wealthy member associations.

With this deal, it's letting Saudi Arabia in on the action directly.
This is pretty brazen.

It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

This has happened against my wishes, and I’m genuinely dismayed by it.

Not because people can’t disagree with my words, but because self-censorship driven by fear (Trump threatening to sue the BBC) should concern all of us. /3

This sentence was taken out of a lecture they commissioned, reviewed through the full editorial process, and recorded four weeks ago in front of 500 people in the BBC Radio Theatre.

I was told the decision came from the highest levels within the BBC. /2

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

I have mellowed (a bit) on Scotland but media coverage has largely ignored how bad and negative they have been. 188 passes on Tuesday (fewer than North Macedonia), outplayed against 10 men, lost all 3 of their home matches on XG. They have been garbage. But I guess as long as there's a sing-song...

It’s time to tax the super‑rich & invest in our collective future.

The way Labour are talking about migrants validates far right narratives of dehumanisation *at a time of far right riots and racist violence*. The leadership group responsible needs to be removed right now as a matter of public safety. This is simply a factual description of the situation before us.
Honestly, the potential case for getting rid of Starmer before was the lack of any political project and absence of charisma. But now No.10 is creating a moral imperative for the PLP to act as well.
