Hello everyone! We get a lot of questions about the store locations, so here's an update! Every location is accepting new volunteers and we love to meet new people. There's a few other mutual aid groups that aren't part of NHMARF, but if you live closer to them, please check them out. See you soon!!

Please share this request with your friends and networks and help us spread the word! Thanks so much!

Have a need for specific items as we head into the colder months? Send us a message! We are often able to procure donations to fulfil specific needs for our community members - this is the "mutual" part of mutual aid relief fund!
nhmarf.bsky.social
Have an overgrown stash of plastic grocery bags? We need those, too! Drop some off with the rest of your donations right in the box, or bring things directly to your nearest free store.

Have a large quantity of donations or furniture items? Send us a message here or email us to coordinate!

Hey everyone! Summer is winding down and so is yard sale season. If you have things to clear out of your space, we want them!

These items are our biggest needs right now; clothing is a top priority for our stores in the valley! Check out our website to find your nearest drop box location.

ICE shot "projectiles, threw flash bang grenades, pepper-sprayed and deployed tear gas" at protesters.

ICE detainee "said he was held in a cell with 150 other men, had his medication taken away and was not given regular food."

Correction to this post, sorry this particular resident has been in the park for 8 months. She’s been on the wait list for housing for *14 years*.

Need more coffee.

Yesterday residents and advocates held a press conference in the hopes of delaying the removal of tents until residents could be housed.

One resident told us she’d been on the city’s wait list for housing for 5 months. The wait list for Section 8 housing can be many years.

Today, unhoused residents, advocates, and neighbors called upon the city & Ald. Nugent to halt their plan to tear down tents & other structures tomorrow morning in Legion Park, and to do more to support residents.

The belief that poverty and homelessness are about "individual choices" didn't arise on its own. It was manufactured through decades of messaging designed to protect the policies and interests that create mass precarity.

As this new poll shows, that propaganda campaign has been wildly successful.
Most US adults think individual choices keep people in poverty, new AP-NORC/Harris poll finds
A new AP-NORC poll finds that most U.S. adults think personal choices are a major driver of poverty and homelessness, while fewer blame a lack of government support.

It’s a common justification & misconception. I heard the same about Gompers Park residents.

But if you speak with residents, they’ll tell you it’s not that easy. Couples can’t stay together, there’s a shortage of shelters in the area, they can’t bring many belongings, and they risk theft & assault.

Now, more than ever, we need juries to act as a check on government power!

This is what plainclothes CPD look like (yep, they wear masks sometimes!).

With ICE seen so many places today, it's really crucial people learn to recognize them before flooding channels with false reports.

Please note the stars on the front of their vests, name and bureau tags.

May 4, 2024. Tactical units called in to a pop up student encampment for Gaza at the School of the Art Institute. These cops would typically be driving around the south or west sides doing "proactive" policing (harassing mostly Black residents). They dress like this as an attempt at urban camo.

A common misconception about reproductive health care is that it primarily focuses on abortion — and while abortion care is critical, repro health care is about so much more.

That’s why it’s so important that we fight for our reproductive freedoms — especially amid this hostile federal landscape.
