The first 200 pages of The Keep by F. Paul Wilson is maybe the greatest horror novel of all-time. I just don't know what happened with the final 130 pages.

Lately I've been watching my favorite 80's movies with my 14 year-old daughter. Last night was The Lost Boys. Needless to say, it was a hit.

What books would you love to see adapted for the screen?

And would that be a film or a TV show?

Are there any psychological horror authors out there anymore? I feel most of the new horror writers are just writing slasher stuff and body horror. Everything I pick up seems to be that style anyway and it's really not for me.

Ice by Anna Kavan (1967)

Beautifully written, highly evocative, told by an extremely unreliable narrator with a hint of dual personality. A tale of abuse and obsession, steeped in a lot of metaphor and hallucinations.

Not a straightforward read, but I was enthralled by it. One I’ll re-read

The Red Winter is a fantastically crafted dark fantasy that reimagines the Beast of Gevaudan myth into a monster-slaying adventure.

As the New Year begins, it might be time for a reread of HYPERION by Dan Simmons. One of the all-time great sf novels that only gets better with age.

Just watched the original Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Hadn't seen it in about 20 years and I was worried it wouldn't have the same zing, especially since my 14 year-old had never seen it. Gotta say, it more than holds up. Just a perfect comedy and my daughter LOVED it.
