Passionate about landscape spirituality, written books celebrating our built and natural heritage, including the guide Britain's Pilgrim Places. Faith inspired but disillusioned with institutions. Been a naturist all my adult life, happily open about it.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

In ep. 27 of Women In Focus, Helen concludes her conversation with Prof. Pollen talking about the pivotal role women have played since the start of modern nudism and how it was seen as the perfect continuation of the womens' rights and feminism movements. Out this Sat.

Therme Erding is an amazing complex of saunas and pools, and wouldn't even exist without the German FKK (nudist) culture of communal bathing. It's a real shame that the textile-free area is being reduced, it was the busiest part when I visited a few years ago.
Reducing naturist spaces is not “diversity.”
It’s erasing a cultural tradition.
INF-FNI has raised concerns with Therme Erding over the reduction of textile-free areas a step back from Germany’s FKK heritage.

Because that’s worked so well for the poor people in the US whose health insurance premiums have increased unsustainably.

Sure, let’s do that for our population, it’ll kill off a few hundred thousand that won’t be able to afford it and increase profits for private healthcare providers 🤔😳

What a life to have lived, that his last words were concern. Not for himself, but for a stranger.

The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

Absolutely bizarre this Guardian article on the history of television claims the first full-frontal nudity was broadcast by Dutch TV in 1967. There's a 1957 BBC documentary on naturism called Out of Step, with plenty of naturists in it. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

The BBC has gone beyond both-sidesism, and frequently now presents only Trump's account of events

(This isn't the only recent example)
The BBC North America editor tells us that Trump doubts that NATO would respond if the US asked for help.

She doesn't point out that the US is the only NATO member which has ever invoked Article 5, and that it got help. From Denmark and others.

This is not a rational person. And this is deeply disturbing coming from an American President. NATO is not our enemy—they are unequivocally our closest friends and allies.

At this point, how can you not call into question the mental fitness of this President?
